After all the chatter about the way cops swooped down on Mavado's show in Temple Hall, YardFlex understands this is not a local problem for the DJ, but an international one as well.
From our sources in the UK we learnt that Mavado had two dates there last month, November 23 and 25 at the Mercia Banqueting Suite (Coventry) and the Stratford Rex (London) respectively. The show signaled his first ever performance in the UK. From what we understand the show was supposed to have Little Chris and Mad Cobra on the bill, but from what we gleaned Mad Cobra didn't turn up.
It's a good thing too, because the police cancelled the show in Coventry. Sources told Yardflex that this action was carried out because the Police were acting on intelligence that a gang was going to head down to Coventry and shoot the place up.
As for the show in London that went ahead with a heavy police presence. There were three police vans and a surveillance unit filming the patrons. Yardflex source personally observed the police with some heavy-duty weapons.
Also before the show started the MC announced that the delay was due to the fact that the police had to search the stage to ensure there were no firearms.
In the end Mavado performed for a total of 30 minutes before the venue turned the lights on to signal the end. The venue was virtually packed though.
Now tell me that Jamaican police were unfair!
