Not the first time for Mavado
After all the chatter about the way cops swooped down on Mavado's show in Temple Hall, YardFlex understands this is not a local problem for the DJ, but an international one as well.
From our sources in the UK we learnt that Mavado had two dates there last month, November 23 and 25 at the Mercia Banqueting Suite (Coventry) and the Stratford Rex (London) respectively. The show signaled his first ever performance in the UK. From what we understand the show was supposed to have Little Chris and Mad Cobra on the bill, but from what we gleaned Mad Cobra didn't turn up.
It's a good thing too, because the police cancelled the show in Coventry. Sources told Yardflex that this action was carried out because the Police were acting on intelligence that a gang was going to head down to Coventry and shoot the place up.
As for the show in London that went ahead with a heavy police presence. There were three police vans and a surveillance unit filming the patrons. Yardflex source personally observed the police with some heavy-duty weapons.
Also before the show started the MC announced that the delay was due to the fact that the police had to search the stage to ensure there were no firearms.
In the end Mavado performed for a total of 30 minutes before the venue turned the lights on to signal the end. The venue was virtually packed though.
Now tell me that Jamaican police were unfair!

This is just ridiculous. Is this the socalled "civilized" world? Sounds no different than Iraq to me.
Well, lately it seems like your chances of surviving in Iraq is better than in JA and now, perhaps at a dance :(

What went down was nothing but straight up
frpck$%y. Look pon di amount of sessions that keep at that venue throughout di year , plenty of dem ending way past 2pm and nuh babylon come lock down nothing. Mi couldnt help but laugh when mi hear the supt. in- charge a chat some bullshit bout how there is law and ray ray ( negro please). This was nothing more than a straight up fight plain and simple. Movado aint my dj but still ni nuh like how dem deal wid di man ting at all.

My Take: If Babylon wanted to search and cease guns and ammunition, they could have simply waited for the show to be over and searched the patrons then.
However they seem to take pleasure in disrupting poor ppl fun, stiffling dancehall and just aggrivating people. I wouldn't be surprized if these were the same badmind police that pushed Mavado through the glass, nobody from the ghetto must mek it out.
Imagine ppl pay dem money, stayed out in the rain waiting to see the artists perform, and the Jamaican security forces saw it fit to correl the ppl and instill fear. For what? one dutty barrel gun and knives?
You mean to tell me they wasted thousands of people tax on gas,and helicopter to just upset and aggrivate the people they suppose to be protecting? What are they really trying to prove?

I HONESTLY THINK THAT 2:PM WAS WAY TO EARLY TO CLOSE A SHOW IN JAMAICA WHEN I WAS IN JAMAICA I AM JUST LEAVING MY HOUSE AT LIKE 130 TO GO TO PARTY SO I KNOW HOW IT FEELS TO BE INT HAT POSITION.NO MATTER WHER EOR WHAT WE DO AS BLACK PEOPLE WE WILL ALWAYS GET A FIGHT.SO WE HAVE TO TAKE IT ON OURLESVES TO KEEP THE FAITH AN PRESS ON.
the movado show in london was the biggest concert for 2007.let me tell u what happend cause i am one of the promoters we asked for the police to be at the venue due to the incident at the concert 2 weeks before and the police didnt delay the show the police search the venue before the doors open overall the show i would give it 9 out of 10.the problem with the coventry show its simple if ur a promoter an du keping any concert and expect thousands of people the first ting is crowd safety u need to involved the law they didnt when they did it was too late if u wann see the performace for urself log on to youtube and type in chrisgoldfinger

yow, this is not targeting mavado unfairly the fact is when he keeps shows shoot up and firearms are always present. look at it when he performs on another show it's not stopped but anyshow he organizes or promotes they do it. it's not about poor people or ghetto people caus i'm both of those poor and ghetto. look they found a gun at his show in temple hall, that cou8ld have been used to kill someone.
Mi go party last week and mi think a iraq mi a drink hennessy and do the mavado rock mi affi tek whey mi self mi hear a barrage a shot.
Mi nuh care how yu bad or whoo much gun yu lock mi nuh care if yu mad or smoke ten pound a crack no way ina di world yu can justify that a shoot ina crowd a you first fi get shot!!

The london thing has been going on forever I was born and raised in that town in the 70' 80's 90's and still now whenever an artist come from yard its like fun for them they come out in heavy presence try to intimidate the concert goers just looking for trouble and when some fool goes off they are like its Hammering time lock up everybody and their mama. So nothing new.
Babylon system is like a vampire sucking the blood of the sufferes.
That is why they do most reggae concerts take place at the Brixton Academy which is right next to the notorious Brixton police station, where many black boys have lost their life.
Movado the new Tupac so he has to live with the trappings of being considered gangster why you think capelton and Buju turn conscious, less stress.

All I can say are the great words of Marcus.
Black people won't know themselves untill their back is against the wall..
Looks like people in Uk and other places are waiting to see the print on the wall then look at it...
Yea the police are going on a way bad here in UK. Still some of us are goimg on too bad down here ...
Gun man a shoot up and rob our own dances not just reggae hip hop and so on too. NNUUFFF!!! People want to go out and see them artist but they are just too scared. They have good reason to be. Many people would feel safer going to a dance in down town Jamaica than to a dance in some parts of England, London even more so.
Some of our warriors lack leadership positive direction etc. so Dem just a sing dem strangers song in the strange land..
What a day when we all sing the Kings song as ONE.

The reason why the Coventry show was cancelled was due to the gang violence in dem deh area. They said 'a gang was going to head down to Coventry and shoot the place up' this is true, the burger bar boys from Birmingham, come and cause trouble at every event like this in and around Birmingham. Yuh fi blame dem fi di problem, not the police who try to deter people from get shoot up.

Some of you idiots need to understand that the security forces need to step up the pace and do what it takes to resolve the mayhem in Jamaica....Mavado was not being targeted the police entered the venue based on intelligence that some wanted men would be at the show and there would be a stockpile of guns being traded. Did anyone get killed, beaten or disrespected the answer is no....the forces are doing their job. Can we give them a little respect at times?

Some of you cats who are chatting foolishness should ave lived in NEw York when Guiliana and Bratton started enforcing the law, every offense was punished, loitering, littering, prostitution, drug peddling, even pissing in the public.....as a result of their actions crime dipped by 68%. How many of us would have put up with the so called inconveniences. Well we need to if we are going to see significant changes in JA. By the way the lyrics that Mavado spews from his mouth markets nothing but violence, chaos and death....enough already
