Romain Virgo takes the rising star for 2007

 In true "Idol" mode, the 4th Digicel Rising Stars talent [singing] competition saw its finale last night in Kingston, Jamaica. TV J carried the exciting proceedings live while a simultaneous concert took place on the grounds of New Kingston's, Mas Camp. Described as the most exciting night on local television, loads of people gathered to take part and root for their favorite singer. In similar "Idol" style the winner was decided by public vote sent in through telephone texts or calls.
Two finalists remained after weeks of auditions, performances and eliminations. They were Jodian Pantry and Romain Virgo. Both were extremely popular with the studio and Mas Camp audiences and this was their night of decision. Viewing the proceedings from big screen, while the finalists waited anxiously for the results, patrons became increasingly thrilled as the suspense thickened.
 Tarrus Riley was on hand as co-host at Mas Camp, and he helped liven things up with renditions of crowd favorites like, "Beware" and "She's Royal." He was doing fine and explained to Yardflex that the car accident he was involved in from the previous night was as a result of being side swiped by another vehicle. Tarrus was just shaken up a bit as his air bag malfunctioned. Of course patrons were overjoyed at his presence.
Romain was finally declared the winner and there was tumultuous applause. The Mas Camp went absolutely crazy and they were even more ecstatic to have the finalist each perform.
The final results are: Romain Virgo – Winner, Jodain Pantry – Second Place and Inga Stewart – Third Place.
Romain, who recently graduated from Abouthnott Gallimore High School in St. Ann, is 17 years old and plans to focus on his passion for music education even more than on the business for now. Interested in a future in the music industry he plans to study music [drumming] and drama mainly, at Edna Manley School.

romaine is the bomb he really deserved this position for a young man who can rock the world of jamaicans misically. he knows how to entertain and knows the right songs that matches his voice. way to go!!!!!!!!!!

the only song selection i remb. that jody sing is "bed of roses" with noddy virtue. nothing else stood out. romaine has kept the party going straight and this was AS clear as day that he would be victorious. congrats virgo.

Hey Romaine, it's Patto your teacher. I have helped to nurture you and I am extemely happy to know that you have reached thus far. I know you remembered the friday morning when you sang at devotion, you were in grade 7 and from there we knew you were a star.
