Irie Love (real name) taking her “Red Stripe Break” to higher heights

irie_ love.jpgIrie Love's image personifies her stage name. She is beautiful; the kind of beauty that will make a Caribbean on-looker say, irie! Further, the physical is accompanied by a voice that has done background vocals for mega-stars such as Chaka Khan and Pink; therefore, it stands to reason that Reggae music has another super-star possibility on its periphery!

She gained initial recognition within the Reggae arena when she became a finalist in a talent search competition in Jamaica. It was a televised competition called "The Red Stripe Big Break". She told Yardflex during an interview from London, England yesterday, that she feels it was her destiny to be in Jamaica at that time. "My manager at the time took me to Jamaica in an attempt to do some work within the Reggae fraternity. When I arrived in Jamaica the competition was about to begin, so I entered." The rest is memorable. She did not win the competition, but the talents she displayed were undeniable.

At present, it is no surprise that she is signed to Gedion Music, the record label owned by the legendary Morgan Heritage. Gramps, the lead singer of the group spoke admirably of his new signee, stating that, "She has loads of talent." He added that he had been looking for a female singer with Irie's style to add to the label's roster, and so when he recognized her potentials, he had no hesitation in signing.

Irie is currently on a promotional tour for her upcoming album, "The Life of Love," which will be released exclusively under the banners of Gedion Music label. The tour has taken her to Italy, France and London.

She said the album will highlight her versatility and love for various genres of music like, Hip Hop, R&B, Rock, Jazz and of course, Reggae. Top producers, Sly and Robbie, Bobby Digital and Steven McGregor are working on the album that is still being completed.
