Mavado left many anxious dancehall fans in a lost loop in Atlanta as well as in Trinidad and Tobago as promoters in both places were forced to cancel concerts following a robbery the artiste experienced in Toronto, Canada, ttgapers.com reports today.
It is alleged the DJ was cruelly robbed just after arriving at his hotel and while checking in. In Toronto for another concert, Mavado reportedly lost extremely important documents in the robbery. These include his passport, money, other travel documents and a laptop computer.
Unconfirmed reports – at news time – claim that at Toronto's first Black owned Urban Station FLOW 93.5fm advertisements were run offering rewards of up to C$5000, for the return of Mavado's belongings.
Without travel documents, Mavado was refused entry into the US to perform at his Atlanta gig. He was further distressed to find out another concert scheduled for Gulf City, Trinidad and Tobago would also have to be nullified.
Fans in the twin isles were not the least bit amused or sympathetic to the cause and they felt as if "duped" considering the sign at the club said Mavado had missed his flight instead of explaining the real situation. In anger the fans allegedly got wild and overbearing on Sunday night – with accounts of many making threats at the promoter, Glenroy Watson.
Credit cards also stolen from Mavado were reportedly used at major Toronto commercial centres, in the stores, Best Buy and others.
