JERKK FOOD SEPT 27.jpgFor four years the Jamaica Jerk Festival has been a sizzling favorite and Sunday, September 23 was no different. Weston Florida's Markham Park became the hub of a succulent "Jerk Showcase" outdone by no other.

The authentic Jerk Master, Boston Jerk was there from - Port Antonio and servings of jerk in every style were available for the connoisseur of the Jerk persuasion. Lobster, chicken and pork were jerked, but the real crowd pleaser was Jerk Ice Cream.

Outselling the crabs, corn and all other – this Jerk Ice Cream by Tropical Flavors Ice Cream, was a sell off.

Produced by Ridims Marketing Jamaica Awareness, Inc. and Air Jamaica; the Jamaica Jerk Festival attracted many reggae greats and was only slightly obstructed by inclement weather. The rain came down, preventing headliner, Allison Hinds from closing off the show, leaving many disappointed. Muddy conditions before that did not deter the show to go on, but at the end it got unbearable for everyone and the show was shut down.

VIOLINIST AT JERK FESTIVAL SEPT 27.jpgThis lockdown happened only after wonderful performances from acts like, Nadge a 14 year old who has aced the violin, Bryon Lee and The Dragonnaires, Pluto Shervington, Eugene Grey, The Blue Glaze Mento Band and folk singers.

Eddie Edwards and Sydney Roberts were at the helm of a production team that pulled of another great one. Despite the muck and muddy mess, patrons stayed on - continuing to enjoy the unifying atmosphere. Byron Lee was in attendance, however he did not perform and Freddie McGregor was another of many musical greats taking in all the good vibes.
