Calvin Broadus, world renown as rap star, Snoop Dogg, has escaped prison time for his involvement in an incident in 2006, over the possession of a collapsible baton.
Snoop was arrested after the weapon was found in his hand luggage at John Wayne Airport in Orange County last year.
He pleaded guilty to one count of felony possession of a dangerous weapon in a California court yesterday, and was sentenced to 160 hours of community service and three years of probation. Donald Etra, the star's attorney, says, "We are very pleased with the outcome. Dogg's goal is to make music, not make court appearances." "He wants to get on with his life. He will continue his music and his filming and performing," he added.
Snoop was also ordered to make a charitable donation of $10,000 to a charity called Right Trak, while Etra claims that his felony conviction would be reduced to a misdemeanor after one year if the rapper doesn't violate the law.
