All Roads Lead to Ethiopia for the Millennium Celebration September 11, 2007

On September 11, 2007 at midnight in Ethiopia, the New Year and New Millennium celebrations began amid lavish gatherings, religious zeal and positive messages from the country’s troubled government. Ethiopia and Ethiopians throughout the world marked this day with immense enthusiasm and will continue to celebrate for days to come.
In the 6th Century, the rest of the Christian world made revisions in its estimate of the date of Christ’s birth - but Ethiopia kept the old date, which means that 7 years after the rest of the world, the country is marking the start of the year 2000.
For Rastafarians worldwide, recognizing and aligning with the calendar of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Ethiopia (a unique slightly modified Julian calendar) has been a part of their lifestyle and today Rastas everywhere have begun to commemorate the beginning of the year 2000.
Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, reportedly expressed his hope for a new millennium that would usher in a new era of prosperity for this Horn of Africa nation. He said, “The last few centuries of the millennium have not been as glorious, every generation of Ethiopians during those centuries has paid in blood to maintain our independence.” As the only African nation that has never been colonized, Ethiopia has always been revered and honored – especially amongst Rastafarians.
In Jamaica, the Ethio-Africa Diaspora Union Millennium Council have organized a series of events in honor of the occasion. Taking place over two days the celebrations had a pre-cursor – in the form of a special event to mark the anniversary of the birth of Mortimo Planno that happened on September 6.
On September 11, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Entertainment and Culture, the Millennium celebration event took the Mandela Park in Half Way Tree from 12:00 noon until 8:00PM. In addition to dignitaries like Barry Chevannes, Dr. Nafitsu Kagne (Senegal’s first Ambassador to Jamaica) and other African Diplomats, Sam Clayton, from the group The Mystic Revelation of Rastafari, will make presentations.
The Mystic Revelation will entertain along with the Nyabinghi Ancient Order and Drummers, the BoboShante, School of Vision and other Mansions. Artistes like, Tony Rebel, Queen Ifrica, Sizzla, Tarrus Riley,Tommy Cowan and others will alwo grace the stage with musical millennium presentations.
At The Livity Restaurant in Kingston, the celebration continues on September 11.
On September 12, 2007, the revelry continues with a special Millennium Dinner to be held at the Hilton Hotel in Kingston – at the poolside – beginning at 6pm.
Across the island, the official Nyabinghi Ises will be taking place at Scotts Pass Nyabinghi Center in Clarendon form September 10th until September 17th. In Ochio Rios on September 12th the Nyabinghi order will also gather to celebrate.
Ethiopians will attend different events, and three main parties have been planned. Many free festivities took place and there will be a year long celebration there. Many Rastafarians, some of whom are members of the 12 Tribes of Israel have taken what seems like a pilgrimage to join in the celebrations.

Yeah, blessed New Year to one and all. 2000 in Ethiopia. Ethiopia's first(1st) day of the year is September 11. Look at that. Whether this is news to you or not, think about it. What is time? Time is the measurement of existence. It's the way to measure the length of existence. Measurement is counting. We count by the seconds. Each count is a second. 60 counts(seconds) = 1 minute, and so on. But what is the difference between one day and another. Earth is just spinning on its axis rotating, revolving around the Sun in the same space. Daytime is defined by Sun's light - whatever part of the Earth the light is hitting at the moment, is in day time. It's darker everywhere else. So time is man's invention. Existence is real. How different peoples measure/count it is up to them.

Right now in Ethiopia, it's the start of the year 2000. As of 2/18/2007 according to the calendar we follow here, it has been the year 4704, according to China's calendar,. All around the world it is different years, and with that different new year's days. Yet we are all sharing the same moments of existence together on this one Earth we all are on. We share existence on this one Earth, just like we share breath. For it's only one breath. Time is just man's language for existence. Man's way of measuring the length of existence. So the Most High is the ONE who puts everything physical into existence - Earth, Sun, plants, animals, and us human beings. The point is that time is really nothing, but a way for us to measure existence, which includes our activities day to day. Existence is real. So let's always know to give thanks for life continually during this existence. For simply counting length of existence and concentrating on time can become a vain thing. This is the way to conquer the feelings of time, realizing that time(measuring/counting length of existence) is what man makes it. Just sharing some thoughts about time. Still, I say Happy Ethiopian New Year's! Blessed love one and all!
I an i celebrate the new millenium alongside mi people here in Nigeria. God bless Ethiopia.

These dam etheopians have no significant connection with jamaicans or jamaica.
They are full of it.
I never in my life seen a bigger mis-conception.
Ethopia is as significant to jamica as all of asia.
We owe africa and africans nothing, naada, zilch, zero.
My so called fellow Africans captured us and solds us as slaves to the spanish and the british.
We paid our price in blood sweat and tears they can f*** off
And as history revealed jamaicans are not from east africa.
We dont even look like them.
Stop make up history and people stop read foolishness

Greetings to one and all.Blessed be the Most High JAH.All fruits ripe therefore the harvest must begin.Do remember we reap what we sow.Give thanks for the black pearl that emerged from the carry beyond sea and came to be known as Jamaica. My message to my spiritual family is "Natty never get weary".To those who differ I strongly recommend caution when expressing their thoughts concerning "The Divinity" of HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY.Ethiopia shall(and has now)stretch forth her hands unto GOD ushering in the millennium of RASTAFARI.In the beginning some were not able to read the words but received illumination through faith. The message then spread through reasonings and music and here we are on the worldwideweb having unlimited interactions globally.I do remember CHRIST promising to make IandI a fisherman which has now manifested with the exchange of these thoughts.May there be peace within the walls and prosperity within the palaces of the children of the MOST HIGH JAH RASTAFARI SELASSIE I.I close with a reminder to all who love to listen to the music of BOB MARLEY that his message was "The world must know say EMPEROR SELASSIE I IS THE ALMIGHTY".
P.S. To the reggae artists who project themselves as members of RASTAFARI ORDER please deliver material which will enhance said ORDER and not cause negative vibrations worldwide.SELAH
