There was a fashion explosion at Kingston's Hilton hotel on September 7 as Pulse Model Agency's, Caribbean Model Search (CMS) 2007 got underway. Spoken of as the largest and most dynamic talent search in the history of the Caribbean, CMS has showcased thousands of model hopefuls from across the Caribbean over the years. This year the search expanded to include models from the UK and parts of the United States and Canada.

Ninety-five contestants of whom 17 were male, graced the catwalk in different dashing outfits, all created by Caribbean designers. Judges were in place to sift out the top three in each group of Fashion Model, Petite Model and Male Model. An enthusiastic audience encouraged the contestants who all did remarkably well even with the one mishap that saw a CMS hopeful slip and fall on the catwalk.

Among the many petite models vying for the CMS '07 crown was the youngest daughter of the late Garnet Silk, Waszero Smith. Strutting her stuff with elegance, Waszero wore Kenya Linton designs. Entering in the petite category, Waszero was not successful in being chosen as one of the three petites who will be presented for the finals. "I was disappointed at first, but now that has worn off," a determined Waszero said after the contest. She will be modeling regardless…and will be entering again.

Three fashion models and three male models were also chosen as semi finalists at last night’s big event; that will go down in history as the time great modeling careers began. Pulse has prepared many models blazing a trail for them in the Caribbean, with many of their top models climbing quickly to the helm of the international modeling scene.
