Exactly what i was trying to come across here. patois is not a language. this is how the slaves communicated with each other during slavery. that is why we talk patois @ home with our families and when we in the community (ghetto) its more of a dialect. tell me can you go into society speaking patois? of course not! people will look at you a certain way with ignorance. that is why the rest of the carribean consider some not all jamaican ppl to be ignorant.
