"The Port Royal Music Festival is a festival that seeks to please its audience with eternal music," says Neville Blythe. As Chairman of Paradise Communications, organizers of the September 7 – 9 CVM TV Port Royal Music Festival, Blythe is busy and excited about the upcoming venture. Slated to be held at the Port Royal Entertainment Center and the Mariner at Morgans Harbour Hotel, this second staging will feature timeless experiences. One main highlight will be the highly anticipated appearance of Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum recording artiste Brian McKnight.
Confirmed as one of the stellar musicians scheduled to perform over the 3 day festival, McKnight’s smooth voice and vintage vibe will not only take adults back in time with his many soulful ballads, but also entice teenagers with massive rhythmic melodies. His hits such as "The Way Love Goes," "Goodbye My Love," "Still" and "Used To Be My Girl," continually mesmerize audiences globally and Jamaica will have its turn to be thrilled by McKnight in September.
Born June 5, 1969 in Buffalo, New York, McKnight, who plays nine instruments started out in music as high school band leader and church choir member. By the time he turned 19, Mercury Records signed his first recording deal. Entitled, "Brain McKnight," his first album was released in 1992. McKnight released three more albums with Mercury records including "Anytime," that sold over two million copies. He was nominated for a Grammy before moving to Motown Records where he gained more million dollar selling success.
Others joining McKnight on the CVM TV Port Royal Music Festival's Saturday night main event, will be: Regina Bell, Maxi Priest, Tarrus Riley, Jimmy Riley, Leroy Sibbles, One Third and others. This segment will be held at the Port Royal Entertainment Center.
On Sunday, Jazz on the Harbour will feature, Susan Crouch, Dezi Jones, Della Manley and others, while the opener to the 3 days of melodious fun will be at Morgans Harbour Hotel on Friday night.
