Fire Breaks Out at New Kingston Entertainment Hub

On Tuesday August 21, 2007, two days following the devastating affects of Hurricane Dean, a generator caused what turned out to be a minor fire at Jamaica's Pegasus Hotel. Located in New Kingston, the Pegasus is a major center for tourism and entertainment. An eyewitness said somehow the entire foyer became filled with smoke and the entire hotel was then evacuated. Fire and police crews responded quickly and one person suffered from smoke inhilation and was taken to hospital for treatment. The situation was brought under control by rescue teams.
