'Back to Basics' is a new and progressive concept in the sound system arena designed to showcase sound systems from all over the world. On July 13, 2007 the inaugural 'Back to Basics' event was held in Brooklyn, New York, featuring Brooklyn's Tech 9 Movements and Generationz, as well as Blunt Posse from The Bronx.

The unique element of 'Back to Basics' is the emphasis placed on what creators call, "Featuring tune fi you money," meaning sound systems with - unusual, never before heard pieces will prevail. As 'Back to Basics' is developing an avenue for global sound system recognition and awareness – it promotes sounds that have a clear focus on music first.

'Back to Basics' sprung out of New York City last month to epitomize a rebirth of anything hardcore dancehall. With trimmings like the essential dub plates; music rooted in the underground and other alternative sources, surface to appease fans who enjoy the fine art of dub plate appreciation. Such avid dancehall followers will have the chance to reclaim their place in the world of dancehall, through the exclusive rejuvenation of 'Back to Basics.'

Scheduled to be a monthly event, 'Back to Basics' will highlight young up and comers as well as established sounds, making audio available on Clashes R Us, for all to enjoy. August 24th 2007 marks 'Back to Basics' presentation of Super Gold, Rootsman & Camouflage. Super Gold is well rooted in dancehall, having been founded in the 80's when dub plate collection was deep. Rootsman will be representing Canada they are currently that country’s fully loaded champs, on a mission to place their musical flag in U.S. territory. Camouflage hails from Long Island aka Strong Island, New York and is one of the sounds guaranteeing that New York has a future in the dancehall scene.
