July 23rd marks the Earthday of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I.
King of Kings Lords of Lords, Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah. On July 23, 1892, HIM Emperor Haile Selassie I was born in Ejersa Goro, a mountain village outside of Harer in Ethiopia. Born Tafari Makonnen, his father was Ras Makonnen Gudessa. Governor of Harar and his mother was Yeshimebet Ali Abajifa. His royal blood was inherited through ancestral connections to Emperor Menelik II and subsequently Makeda Queen of Sheba and King Solomon of ancient Israel.
Often described as Africa’s greatest military leader, HIM Haile Selassie has inspired great leaders like, Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King. The well known facts of his life have earned him an enduring legacy.
One most notable reflection on HIM Emperor Haile Selassie brings us to the time when Ethiopia was invaded by Italy in 1935. HIM Emperor Haile Selassie led a strong resistance – with an virtually unprecedented courage, resulting in him being forced into exile in May 1936. His most famous speech, delivered to the League of Nations in Geneva on June 30, 1936 has been appropriately transformed into music – by the late Bob Marley, extending the range of its powerful and necessary influence. HIM Emperor Haile Selassie advocated against racism, poverty, mis-education, violence and injustice.
In January 1941, even though they were at a technical disadvantage, the Ethiopian Patriot Forces with assistance from the United Kingdom, defeated the Italians. Upon re-capturing Addis Ababa following this invasion, HIM Emperor Haile Selassie was re-instated and was emperor of Ethiopia until 1974. His inspiring messages continue to enlighten the world.
HIM Emperor Haile Selassie on Education
Education is the main spring of a nation’s life and the guardian of its future. Education is the means whereby the potential contained in the nation’s ultimate resources, its people, is realized and brought to full flower for the good of all. It demands a priority second to none and is entitled to the first demand on man’s energies. Without the benefits of learning the wisdom of the past and the knowledge of the present are denied us. Without education, the freedom and equality which men seek so assiduously can be no more than half realized and the material fruits of the modern world never more than partially achieved.

The speech recorded in song by the late great Nesta entitled WAR-- was actually form a speech given by HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY HAILE SELASSIE I, EMPEROR OF ETHIOPIA, BEFORE THE 18th SESSION OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE UNITED NATIONS IN NEW YORK ON OCTOBER 4th 1963. I hold a copy of the document, so I thought I would try for clarity and accuracy. However, If the writer is referring to another song, I stand corrected.
Nevertheless, the speech at the Leauge of Nations the predecessor of the United Nations is an excellent prophet ic one as well.
Much respect for reflecting on the AUSPICIOUS BIRTH of HIM HAILE SELASSIE I.

Da Man u r no real man u say what u said now back it or u r just as dumb as the people who Selassie tried to liberate, talk who he slaved and dictated, a lot a people know nothing about the Sela but love hate and spred hateful word about the man, read and know more about the man before u talk shyt, for a man to have the power and the knowledge and the responsibility he had, if u thing about it he would have had to be a dictator, and have men by is side to fight off people like da man, and those men he had by his side is what u considered slave u azzhole, those r not slave they where freedom fighters, they would have killed for there leader and kill to protect there skin color, it was not about slaving a man it was about who is a real man and who is will to stand up to the oppressors, Selassie stood up to them with a big gun and million of black men side by side back to back of him to concurred and ruled Ethiopia from the slave drivers who wanted to take over, the position he Selassie held u feel he wanted this position? no he did not it was handed down to him from former leaders like his father and so-forth, is like your dad give u a legacy to carry on, would u not need man power? would u not need to be a firm man to the men who u must lead? this man had no choice but to be the man he was, and the man he was was a real man not da man, A REAL FROCKING MAN. So next time if u know not of what u r talking about shut the fcuk up.

All hail His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Haile Selassie I. All the fuss is a fuckin' mess. Whenever you have people who follow mainstream media and do not do research from several sourches to cross reference, there are going to be a bunch of educated idiots making ignorant comments. Respect the King and His legacy. Look for the truth for yourselves and don't take whatever Babylon tells you is the truth. Guidance and blessings. Selah.

Why not asking Ethiopians what they think of Haile Selassie?
You would be surprised to see dem laughing when you tell dem you consider him as a God.
BTW, it is true that while his people was starving, he was feeding his lions with tons of meat...
Also, who overcome Haile Selassie? Italians? No, his own people...
hail selassie is god, not only for ethiopians but for all of us as african.and our love for selassie 1 will never die.history says AFRICA FOR AFRICANS, so it is very disturbing to see an african worshiping JESUS CHRIST,How can we pray for someone who introduced to us by whites.
Although I am not a Rasta, but Emperor Haile Selassie 1, Ras Tafarai was a Great King. Of Course you may find that some Ethiopians may not like the man, but so it is that some people dont like Jesus Christ then, and even now. Some dont even like God. But as a student of International politics, I have found time to study the man and his saying. Man, he was a prophet of the highest order. No wonder some amateur Stalinist Communist ended his earthly life. But his legacy lives on. Akeem R.

I respect everyones right to believe as they will, but it is an ignorant comment to say that i cannot believe in a god that was introduced to me by a white person, an arab, or an asian. We are no different than our white brothers and sisters and all of our history begins in Africa.
