Kings of Soul For Fathers Day
By: Olimatta Taal
In preparation for a Fathers Day celebration to remember, a launch was held on June 6th at the Pegusus Hotel. World Beat Music Group's Kings of Soul concert was unveiled to reveal a lineup of stellar performers who will be heading to Jamaica for the June 16th concert at the Island Village in Ocho Rios. Billy Ocean, Shai, The Manhattans and The Delfonics will be headlining with opening acts like, Rising Star winner Chris Martin and Rakelle, a new Brazillian artist.
Organized as a series of events, the celebration will continue on June 17th at the Constant Spring Golf Club in Kingston, where James Ingram will join the star studded line up. This will be Billy Ocean's first time performing in Jamaica.
With 10 years in the entertainment business World Beat Music Group started out promoting reggae and world beat events in Houston, Texas, with top reggae acts such as Toots and the Maytals, and Burning Spear. They are also promoters for the annual Houston Reggae Fest, that featured acts such as Shaggy, Maxi Priest, Inner Circle, Christina Milian, Heatwave, Lucky Dube, Yellowman, Rupee, and Gyptian this year.
World Beat Music Group plans on making this event, one to truly honor the roles that fathers play in the community.
