Wal-Mart Opens Its Door To Sizzla Kalonji in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida

sizzla-jamaica-sexygirls_beenieman.jpgSizzla Kalonji was headliner for Hurricane Preparedness Day at the Wal-Mart Super Center in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida on June 2, 2007. Along with other artists like Ken Booth, Tony Rebel, Nadine Sutherland, Bunny Rugs, Shaze, Roots n Culture, Nigel Lewis, and Junior Soul, Sizzla Kalonji performed to a huge crowd in front of the store, while shoppers browsed through his catalogue of music, available for the first time inside Wal-Mart Stores.

Organized by Mystic 1400, NBC 6, Caribbean Weekly, the City of Lauderdale Lakes and various other community leaders, the entire program was a success. Many Caribbean companies set up booths, marketing samples of their products to consumers. These included Air Jamaica, Grace Kennedy Ltd and others. There were activities and entertainment for the children.

Linda Hudson, General Manager of Mystic 1400 and brainchild of the project said, "This is an opportunity to open doors for Reggae music by placing Sizzla's catalogue in Wal-Mart. Now you can pick up Sizzla Kalonji's product in any Wal-Mart. It was a great day for all Caribbean people because our music is limited to what is commercial or popular. For them to embrace the dancehall, it was an incredible day for dancehall. He was very impressive, very professional, and set the tone for this project."

Hudson sees this initiative as a vehicle to address two very important issues in the community which include creating awareness of living in hurricane impacted areas and creating more opportunities for Reggae music in mainstream companies that empower the industry. Nadine Sutherland was also promoting the 876records release of her recent CD, Call My Name.

As people shopped for weekly groceries, fans greeted their favorite artists, requesting pictures and autographs. It was such a busy, exciting day for Wal-Mart that the Mayor of Lauderdale Lakes, Samuel Brown, made his way to the event to meet Sizzla Kalonji, congratulating him on the accomplishment of this musical victory.

this is something that i really dont understand..
sizzla, spitting fire on "babylon", having a concert at wal-mart, the symbol of american consumerism???

im quite disappointed, i thought that fighting babylon meant staying far from places like that.

Sizzla is a chump. Straight sell-out. He'll slay then thousand Babylonian devils with his sword of Righteous Rastafari, right after taking it from Sam Walton's rich white trash cracker spawn. Ken Boothe and Tony Rebel ought to know better also.
