Assassin heads to Europe
Assassin is once again taking it to the road. With the heat on the streets from his new song, 'Boring Girl' and an impressive catalogue of hit songs, Assassin will perform in Europe. The tour kicked off Wednesday, May 30 in Stockholm, Sweden and ends on Friday, June 16 in Stuttgart, France. Check out his touring schedule, below.
Assassin will be releasing his new album entitled "Versatile" in summer of 2007. Assassin eliminates numerous misconceptions on his sophomore release Versatile. As the title suggests, this record comes straight from the streets, but with a difference. Assassin explains that the title track is "a celebration of ghetto lifestyle as opposed to a lamentation about how horrible it is." Instead of demonizing ghetto residents as unruly savages, Assassin's lyrics offer an acknowledgment of the fact that people are people even without an abundance of material things. "You can still be happy while you're working towards better," he points out. "It's all about not being resigned to your surroundings."

Finally a DJ with some positivity. Tired of hearing the same lame line that "we only DJ bout wha wi know"
These DJs need to realize that what they sing about influences young minds. Clearly there must be some co-relation between the onslaught of gun lyrics and the onslaught of gun crimes rate in Jamaica. For these Djs to claim that they don't tell anybody to pick up a gun is beyond hypocrtical.Biggie once said about his second album "I can't rap about being broke and hungry no more, cause i ain't broke and hungry no more" I can't rap about selling crack no more, cause i ain't selling crack no more"
So why is it these DJs, after they've made it, still dj about the same things. Do songs to uplift the ghetto, not songs that make ghetto people feel like the only options they've got are guns and drugs and murdering people.
PEACE

Assassin, I am slowly becoming a fan. I really dig the song "God Nah Sleep" on the Cry Baby riddim and your voice and a nice timbre to it. Can't wait for the album to drop. All the best to you. make sure to stop in NYC when you get the chance!

Assassin has become my favourite reggae artist with just one album! (Sorry, Sean Paul.)
However, you people are wrong. "God Nah Sleep" is NOT Assassin's best song. If you want one quality song by this wicked DJ, download STEP PON DEM.
