Sneak Peak into Taurus Riley's - She's Royal
By: Olimatta Taal
On the set of the luxurious yatch, Caribbean Queen, Taurus Riley finished the last shot of his new video She's Royal, on May 20th. Draped in various colours of blue, green, yellow, purple, and orange African fabrics, Nubian Royal Empresses representing the many hues of Black filled the backdrop. They were gleefully sharing pleasures of being serenaded by such a powerful song.
Directed by Rupert Campbell of CVM Television, it shows Taurus Riley meeting a beautiful natural woman, played by Ifrica Thompson and falling in love with her, but is later rejected. After thinking about her, he is finally reunited where they mutually respond to each other through attraction. It is done in the communal context of the family and focuses on uplifting the more positive and African elements of Black beauty. Other scenes include Taurus on the beach, the rejection scene, the family scene, and a dancer's scene.

VP Records released his 15 track album Parables, that was produced on October 21st, 2006 by Dean Frazer of Canon Productions. The album put him in a place of his own, shining bright with his own sound and witty wordplay on various songs. A legend in the making, this young reggae artist built his musical experience from his father, Jimmy Riley, a veteran in the Reggae Industry.
She's Royal is currently on constant radio rotation in Jamaica. The video will be released in the next two weeks. Stay with You and Beware have become reggae anthems and can be heard in numerous music circles throughout the globe, setting the stage for the next big hit, She's Royal.

The song has a very powerful message and I also had the pleasure of seeing him perform at the "Take me Away" concert but I am so sick of these so-call rastas claiming to be all about natural beauty and embracing blackness. When they decide to take a mate for procreation they always draw for the whites or mulattos, never the black sistas that they verbally speak so highly of.They make me sick to my stomach. The only true black rasta I listen to is Mutabaruka and he doesn't sing so you know where I stand with rastas.

Whatever,
Preach it... Amen to that... you said it... those rastas are simple rent a dred... their locks are just part of their "uniform" to get the tourists... and European fans...

Taurus Riley is the Caribbean's lyrical master of Reggae...the brother is unique, humble, drop dead easy, easy on the eyes, a natural tone, he is just plain super naturally talented as a writer and singer.
As a Taurean, I know he is loving, warm, kindhearted, thoughtful, a realist, a perfectionist , so definitely a no-nonsense.....brutally frank (most of the time) individual. But the best part of this reggae icon is his love of 'the' natural.
If you ever get the opportunity to meet him..DO NOT WASTE TIME ....DO NOT HESITATE...'IM A' ROYAL FUH REAL!!!!!!
To my African Musical Grandmaster I-Tau.....
Keep the flame burning for Jamaica and by extension the entire Caribbean.
We Love Yuh!!!!!!
By the way he performed at Tim's On De Highway Saturday (in Barbados) and I still listening to his music.......I-Tau mix up in me blood dread!!!

I have to say Taurus Riley is absolutely fantastic. I just heard his version of 'stay with you' on the radio and immediately fell in love with this song. Thank you so much Taurus, for recording it and also for 'She's Royal', which is Sheer poetry. You are obviously a master of your profession. Continue the good work. I will be purchasing your album tomorrow, just try stopping me. I went to a New Years Party last night and they must have played 'she's royal' at least 10 times for the whole night. The people loved this song. What a great success. We love you Taurus.

I believe that, and can safely say, as Caribbean people we need more material of this nature and quality. It is refreshing. I’m not just reference the lyrical content but also the visual content. The video in itself returns some form of respectability to our women and the song follows on the heels of other great songs such as “Virtuous woman”. It is also my belief that musicians and song writers alike posses the most powerful gift bestowed upon the more fortunate of us. Taurus Riley clearly posses such a gift.
