Oh my!!

I would love to be in JA at that time...

I totally did this young man... I just don't understand how they could lock him up for so long, on just the word of one person... when was the DNA test done?

Here in the US, we have men being freed almost monthly, due to DNA tests proving them innocent!

This time in jail, I can imagine, as only made him stronger and wiser and more determined..

Welcome back Jah!!

My people, my people. How about we start raising the level of conciousness by condemning rapists for more than 8 years and not by not alienating their female victims.

So sad when ruff necks and rapists become the voice of jamaica.

Cat2000, Mike and Stacy, I agree with your comments. Some of the others who have commented just continue to display their ignorance and stupidity in a Public Forum. This man was convicted of rape, I am sure he had a lawyer at the time so all this foolishness about him being wrongly convicted is just B#$%S^&&T. There is a process of appeal in Jamaica and there are DNA tests available so if he was to be freed on that then it would have been done. Can you imagine the suffering of this woman who was raped being intensified when idiots like the so called 'cousin' keep declaring that she is a bitch and that she was not raped. GROW UP people. He should have served his full time of 13 years and after that he can come out and do his freedom concert.

Such a pity, he gets out so quickly... what a horrendous crime... it would be basd and not so bad if he at least was sorry for what he did and asked god for forgiveness... I am sure all you Jah Cure defenders would not be so quick to defend him if it was your mother, sister, girlfriend or daughter... and I understand that he is doing his time BUT he needs to sincerely say he is sorry to the young lady he raped and to all Jamaican women...

I would never buy a Jah Cure CD and I would suggest that we all people with conscience boycott his music and his shows...

There are many other artist out there who would never even think about raping a woman...

Posted by: CureFan on May 25, 2007 08:30 AM

Please IGNORE all the negative comments and put our energy into CELEBRATING! the release of JAH CURE, he is Innocent,Talented and the majority of our people love him.

Posted by: Staceyg on May 25, 2007 08:43 AM

Happy to hear that Cure will be free, however, i support Mike in saying that even though he paid for his crimes, it would be great for him to apologise to the victims (probably openingly)bring closure and move on with his life.

Cure your musics are great, keep making excellent musics.

The Bible says to Forgive. U R Forgiven.

I have mixed feelings about this. I like Jah Cures songs but I also remember the crime he was accused of committing. I cannot take side and say "he didn't do it" cause I know as a Jamaican, here it is the woman who is disgraced when she is raped. She is often shunned as being a liar and malicious by society, or that she brought in on herself. Believe it or not it is usually other women who are quicker to judge and condemn her. No woman knows what it is like to be raped unless it happens to them. Then they understand the shame they have to endure. On the other hand, taking the objective, I cannot say "He did it" because for sure I wasnt there. The thing is he was found guilty by his peers (although lots of innocent people go to prison).

At the end of the day, all I have to say is: Cure, if u did it, please never make that mistake again...u have seen for urself that Prison Life nuh nice. U have a second chance and the talent to lead positively through ur music. Also, if u did do it, go quietly and appologise to the victim, sometimes that is all that is needed. The world doesnt have to know, that would b between u and her. If u didnt do it then let me be the first to appologise on behalf of the rest of us who have condemned u and taken away your freedom for 8 long years.

Welcome back to society and I still look forward to hearing more of ur music.

@ Stacy @cat2000

Come on now, everyone deserve a second chance, I totally understand that he violate someone but remember we were all young at one point and made foolish choices that we our self are not proud of. He was young, Please don't judge someone because of a bad choice, we should learn to forgive. Remember we are all in a country USA that they judge you by just 1 mistake and will not give us a second chance, as Jamaican we should not be like the Dragon and the Bear, we should be different. If you listen to his songs you can see he is really sorry.

Posted by: Ronda on May 25, 2007 01:15 PM

Don't judge a book by it's cover. I don't uphold what Jah Cure did by rapping that girl (that is if he did it)but it was a bad choice and sometimes people make bad choices and learn from those mistakes. Everyone's choices is different, Jah Cure made a terrible choice. God Forgives and it is a sin to not forgive. His songs tells it all and I believe he is truly sorry. I wish him best and hope his past is a big lesson. Jah Cure this is a start of a new life. Keep your head up and keep making that good music. Make that money, don't let that money make you.
Big Ups!!!!!!!

Oh ye of little of faith!

Where is the outcry for all the murderers and child molesters, fornicators, adulterers????

We weren't there... so we do not know. And nobody died. He served his time and now it's time for him to live his life to the fullest. I am amazed that you folks can continue to support artists who promote violence... I have never heard Jah Cure sing one song that was not positive in the message!

Good will always conquer evil..

Give the man a chance to redeem himself!

Posted by: hits on May 25, 2007 02:02 PM

I can imagine how low the alleged victim and her family feel right around now.
His lyrics are really positive, i hope he has changed and he has some positive people amongst him cause dem shall surely try to make him sell his soul for money. long time some of the vulcha producers and promoters waiting
Jah Cure watch you headback yaaa

Posted by: jamaican on May 25, 2007 02:03 PM

Since were on the subject of rape, does anyone here believe Zebra is a true rapist? and does he deserve a second chance? or should I say third chance, since this is his second rape conviction! This is just for debate, not for criticism of JAH CURE. I'm interested in the answers, as I want to see if people believe every singer accused of rape is innocent!

Cure, if u r guilty of rape, PLEASE seek some help because this is a mental health problem with CONTROL and lack of respect for WOMEN, I don't care who want vex. This type of crime of rape happens to nuff women, without anything happening to the perpetrator(s). Respect women for InI bring forth life.

Bless.....

Posted by: Heartless on May 25, 2007 03:17 PM

Let me start by saying I love Jah Cure and his music and I wish him the best with staying positive and straight. But the bottome line to all those who feel some type of way about him getting out and whether he did it or not. Stacy & Cat200, if either of you were not the woman he "suppositly" raped than get off his shit. None of us were there and no one knows what really happpened except Jah and the women. That's whats wrong with people today. Just because you make a mistake once (no matter how bad it is) doesn't make you a bad person.

Posted by: Ann on May 25, 2007 03:28 PM

He is just another rapist. You All should be ashame of yourselves. WHEN THEM RAPE YOUR ASS (MEN)AND YOUR DAUGHTERS (WOMEN)I guess you will all understand. Everyone who beleive he did not do it or that he deserves to be free so quick should burn in hell with him

Posted by: MajorT on May 25, 2007 03:42 PM

It would be nice, if him dweet and goh seh sarry ... but at de same time, isn't 8 years of his life tantamount to something of an apology ? When exactly should he stop paying for this crime (if he did do it) ???? Even if he went to the young lady and apologized, what would be next, allegations that his apology is not sincere ? Truss mi, if him dweet and did not apologize while being locked up, no way him gwine goh apologize nung. Sarry fi de victim, it's no easy feat, but hopefully this horrible incident is behind her. Let's jus give de man de benefit of the doubt dat him gwine re-enter society a changed man. If there was no forgiveness, we would not be here.

@ Nadine,
We understand what you are saying!
On the real...JahCure did not get a fair shake in the Jamaican system of handling justice.
The case has made it's way to Harvard University law School to be studied by law students on the misuse of justice.

No physical evidence link jahCure to the crime
Only circunstal evidience..the victim said she remembered his voice from performing at Assylum that night.
The victim could not recognize JahCure
The attorney did not show up at trial
No DNA was performed..as Jamaica can't afford the cost to prosicute...they don't even have such lab in Jamaica.
Don't mention appeal, your chance is as good as winning the Lottery.
take a look at the recent statistics on human rights issues in Jamaica.
Rat all a eat evidence in a Jamaica evidence storage room.
The legal system corrupt a Jamaica..point blank

Posted by: Fan4Life on May 25, 2007 08:08 PM

Read This..then state your case
From a Harvard Law School Correspondence

Wow, some of you really have hate inside you.

For those who are saying that Jah Cure is a rapist, do you really know that for a fact? Do you have proof?

There have been many people in my country that were convicted of the same crime and thanks to DNA, the truth has come out that they are not rapists.
Why are you assuming he is guilty because he is in prison.

There are many innocent people in prison.
Why do you find it so difficult to believe that he is innocent.

I had a chance to work with students from Harvard University Law School where they are studying this very case.
I have seen the TRANSCRIPT and can assure you that those of you who think that he is guilty are sadly mistaken.

It seems that you are making assumptions with no facts. I do not know Jah Cure nor do I listen to reggae music, I am just someone who has studied his case and know differently than those of you who think that he did it.

When an entire law class of over 100 students analyze a case as we did, and all 100 students independently come to the same conclusion that he is NOT GUILTY, that is no mistake. Most of us are white with no prior knowledge of Mr Alcock.

Did you know he DID NOT have a JURY TRIAL and his LAWYER did not call any witnesses for his defence.
Did you know he was convicted with NO EVIDENCE whatsoever.
Did you know that his LAWYER did not even show up for part of his trial on the most important days.
Did you know that the girl could not IDENTIFY her rapist by face?

People sound a like all of the time, but if you read that transcript and heard how the JUDGE was leading the witness, you would think differently.

I am speaking from FACTS not opinion.
I am not black, I am not Jamaican, I have never even been to your country, but it makes me so sad to see how you CRUCIFY your own people with no evidence.

That man Siccaturie Alcock does not have a victim to apologize to, nor has he hurt this girl and her family.
Someone else did and it is sad that the Jamaican justice system and police DID NOT do their job that could have never convicted an innocent man. I am speak from knowledge of having the first hand information and evidence presented before me. This would have never happened in Canada, UK Nor US.

I firmly believe that Mr. Alcock is the true victim based on my first hand knowledge of the corruption behind the case.
HARVARD LAW would never use this case as a study if they did not believe him and it is so sad how his own Jamaican people have turned on him. It is truly sad.

Since we studied his case, I cannot stop thinking about how he is suffering and I do searches to see any updates.
That is how I came across this article.

Some of you are so cruel
It does sound like those of you who say those things are green with envy and extremely jealous. It is very sad.
I feel very sorry for people like those of you who speak without fact and first hand knowledge and are quick to persecute another with no evidence.
I am a firm believer of Charma and I truly believe that some thing will teach you a lesson.

You comments are very wicked. Wow, you must seriously be lost souls.

I hope you all post apologies to this young man when the truth comes out. Again, you are all so sadly mistaken. I feel so sorry for you.

Posted by: rasta on May 28, 2007 02:37 PM

When the victims side of the story appeared in the gleaner there were so many irregularities that it seemed impossible to be true. Who sees a car pass by and immediately remembers the plates when there is no apparent danger? Why would this car be driving around for hours just waiting for you and your family to get through whatever you were doing? If this person goes from the back of the car to the glove compartment to get a condom wouldn't the next thing be an escape attempt? If a condom was used outside why was there no DNA evidence offered to support hte allegations? If this crime was perpetrated by more than one person, it is truly funny that I have never heard mention of any other person being imprisoned for this crime.
We do give thanks for the flowing of time. We do give thanks for Selassie I's ever vigilant protection of the BLESSED. So we give thanks that even though tremendous measures have been taken to prevent Jah Cure from doing the work of HIM, THE CURE has proven beyond doubt that he is going to keep chanting for BLACK LIBERATION. Selassie I be PRAISED.

Posted by: Carren on May 29, 2007 10:05 AM

yow...just because people were jailed doesn't mean they did the crime. the victim supposedly identified him by voice [not visual]...sey wah how many entertainers sound the same. plus her mother is friends [dated] the arresting officers. Mmmm....not to put holes in the story but don't believe the hype.

even so...listen to his songs....i don't think you can find a more repentant person. he who have not sinned, cast the first stone!

there is a lot that we do not know but he was young and he paid the price for being at the wrong place at the wrong time so let it go. would you apologize for something you did not do?

i'm happy for the cure and the release. we need conscious music in the dancehall to motivate the people. too much gun ting! rasta live up!

Posted by: Nelly on May 29, 2007 11:11 AM

Fan4Life - please stop Lying...talking about you dont listen to Jahcure music and u dont know of him. you made a post 5/24 @ 4:09pm bigging him up and asking for more conscious music so with that said, WI NAH LISTEN TO YOU. And Law school study crime cases no matter the evidence give. as a matter of fact this might of been a perfect case for students to make a 'call' as to guilt or innocence base on what is been presented. I read the victims story and I read his story...she was detailed in all she said, she didnt miss a beat in her explaination and he was not. Him Rape the Gal at gun point...How cum his other two friend nuh come defend him.
His music is good - but wi must all remember seh a Jail him stay and mek those music. in jail he has nothing else to do much think and come up with good/conscious songs. Way until he comes ah street, where economic issues/girls/parties/etc etc is facing him, mark my words him probably cannot come up with another 'Good" song unless someone write it again for him.

He should spend about 10 more years in jail... if he had commited this crime any where else he would not get out so quickly... supposed he had raped a white woman in Tennessee? I guess we don't value our womwn...

Posted by: kevin on May 29, 2007 07:18 PM

All of wunna doing de same thing. om one hand wunna backing de woman and crucifying Jah Cure den de others backing Jah Cure and crucifying de woman. Wunna really feel being raped is an ordinary thing to go through?? Dat after u get rape u gine remember everything that happen?? Some rape victims dont even testify against the accuse because of the emotional trauma. Im asking myself if Jah Cure wasnt a known star if people wud be backing him like this?/ Anyway the point is he did bout 8 years and he is getting released like anyone esle. Guilty or not he doenst deserve to rot in jail. But the lady also dont need to be crucified either. So if u can love Jah Cure who u dont know u can show de woman some love too.

Ppl

How is it possible for Harvard to get the transcript when reporters are not allowed in rape trials? Rape cases, like gun court cases, are closed to the public.

It is reported that Jah Cure did not have a jury.
In Jamaica you cannot proceed with a rape trial unless there is a sitting jury.

The purported transcript that is posted on the myspace website is an opinion article. A transcript would have reported speech that is attributed to specific speakers.

Jah Cure now needs to earn his place in civil society and we, the society, need to help him to succeed and to excel.

First and foremost I was not there where the actual rape took place. I read the article over and over I believe IF Jah Cure was there he wasn't the only one that did the crime, what happen to the other accusers? Why is it Jah Cure is the main focused. One hand never clapped, If he did it he spend 8 years in prison. Most rapist, murderers, child molesters, thieves, murderers, child murdereres, will never spend one day in jail. Please remember you must forgive 70X7 if we were following this rule most people would be still alive and well today. One Love

well it's about time them set the man free i cant wait for your appearance on curefest

Posted by: baby_g on June 6, 2007 12:11 AM

Just let me start out by saying, I am extremely glad that Jah Cure is free. I wish I could be in Jamaica for the concert. God is a loving and forgiving God, and if he wasn't you and I wouldn't be here right now to condemn anyone. And for the person that said he didn't apologize, if you listen to his songs, thats all you could hear apologies upon apologies.Jah Cure's songs are very conscious, and if that where is heart is he is a wonderful person.Jah Cure I love you baby, many nights I cry myself to sleep listening to your songs.Welcome back to freedom.

I'd just like to say how AMAZING, you were Jah Cure in Holland at Reggae Sundance 07. I went to the for the festival (birthday present to myself) and when I heard you were performing, I could not believe it. You were GREAT, so much better than I expected, I had mad tears in my eyes, i could see some hidden pain in your eyes, and felt each and every song you sang. I loved it when you came on for a third performance (Yes, Yes, Yes).
JAH, has blessed you I'ya and he'll continue to do so. I will be in Barbados/Jamaica year end, and waiting for your next performance. (me nah miss it - trus me) Lots of Love xx Empress S!!!

its sad that jamaicans now are celebrating rapists. what next? how the hell did you get out of jail before finishing your sentence- its so sad to see girls jirating and swaying to a rapist's lyrics- come on jamaicans , thats we aint never gonna get newhere- i hate to see my peers celebrate rapists and murderers. mr siccature alcock you will pay for what u did to that girl.
