Sugar Minott serenades Miami Moms

sugar_minott.jpgAnother one of Florida's Pre-Mothers Day grooves saw Sugar Minott in his usual full form at Miami's Naomi Gardens on May 12. Dubbed Sugar Minott and Friends in concert, the night consisted of reggae's great "Lincoln Sugar" being joined by King Banton and Murray Marshall with The Nubian Players backing band.

An outpouring of love songs dedicated to mothers left a very receptive audience wanting more. King Banton performed very well setting the stage for Marshall's vibrant 30 minute set, that in turn prepared the crowd for Sugar Minott's dynamism.

Dedicating a few love songs to his own mother, now 86 years old, Sugar Minott did not disappoint despite some technical difficulties. Naomi Gardens was seeped in a pleasing ethnic - yard vibe.

I think Sugar Minott is one of the best to come out of Jamaica and is still relevant... I saw him last year in NYC and he was in fine form. His voice still remains the same. He could sing about any topic and do it intelligently..
