GKTV which becomes fully operational on April 1, 2007 will be the first all Caribbean television network to beam 24-hour news, sports and entertainment content on specially installed LCD and Plasma TVs located in 110 Golden Krust stores in the Tri-State area.

Bobby Clarke, CEO of Irie Jam Media who brokered the deal said "this is a milestone partnership for Irie Jam Media Group. Golden Krust is the most successful Caribbean franchise in the USA. They have over 350,000 patrons visiting their franchise network on a weekly basis. The fact that we have access to TV content from providers in Jamaica, Trinidad, Guyana, Barbados, Antigua and here in the USA, it makes good business sense to pool resources to accomplish something that will have far reaching benefits for the Caribbean community."

Lowell Hawthorne, CEO of Golden Krust Bakery who inked the deal said "I have had a long standing relationship with Irie Jam Media. They are the #1 Caribbean radio providers in the tri-State area and as such were the only choice for this project which I predict will revolutionize the way Caribbean businesses are operated in the USA . I am confident this venture will enhance the lives of all Caribbean nationals living in the Diaspora. They will now always be connected, no matter where they are."

GKTV will capitalize on a growing Caribbean immigrant population in the tri-state area that by some accounts has exceeded 2 million. The programming will include the best the Caribbean has to offer from content providers CVM TV, Hype TV, CaribVision and Kariblink TV. GKTV digital signage platform is Phase One of a three phase series of expansions earmarked by Irie TV to unfold in the next 12 months. Phase Two of the Digital Signage expansion campaign will expand programming to 1000 stores worldwide while Phase Three will expand the platform to millions of households across the USA.

Lowell Hawthorne is a pioneer in the Caribbean community and has outstanding credentials and expertise in business. He has received numerous awards including the Order of Merit from the government of Jamaica for his leadership in the development of Caribbean businesses.
