Under the umbrella of Kings of Kings 12th Anniversary celebration, covers the 2nd staging of 'Unite the People' on March 31st. This year's staging; at the lush green Montpelier Show Ground in St. James, will welcome neighbouring parishes and Kingstonians and definitely tourists for a night of unity. There was Daddy U-Roy, Yami Bolo who returned after many years, Ken Boothe among others for roots, rockers and culture. Maxi Priest, Freddy McGregor and Colin 'Iley Dread' Levy and many more for lovers' rock, while dancehall and reggae had all the big acts; Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Louie Culture, Teflon, Lutan Fyah, you name them and the talented international R&B singer Mario. However the 2nd staging will be even better, with the likes of headliners Beenie Man, Capleton, Shaggy, Vybz Kartel, Lady Saw, Macka Diamond, Delly Ranks and D'Angel for dancehall segment. While the cultural artistes and rockers will feature the likes of Iley Dread, Maxi Priest, Miss Trinity, Ken Boothe, Daddy Uroy, Louie Culture, Professor Nuts, Jimmy Riley and Taurus Riley, Geoffry Star, Chrisinti, One Third, Luciano, Ninjaman, Anthony B, Mackie Conscious, Nature, Hero, Nanko, Trini, To-Isis, Heather Cummings, Marcia Griffiths, 12 Tribes of Isreal, Lymie Murray, Ras Myrdak, Freddy McGregor, Radical, Lutan Fyah, Hero, Papa Lover and Singer J.
In 2005 the proceedings of Unite The People assisted in the purchasing of a much needed fetal monitor for the Victoria Jubilee hospital after Kings of Kings donated half a million dollars to the institution and another $500,000 to the Haile Sellassie High School for restoration and fencing. Proceeds from this years staging will go to assist the St. James Primary and Health clinic.
Already Montegonians and St. James residents alike are abuzz with its March 31st arrival; already the anticipation surrounds not only the array of spectacular performance expected but the unification vibe the show plans to give. Kings of Kings have already selected the St. James Primary School and the St. James Health Centre as two very important institutions which will benefit from proceeds from 'Unite the People'.
Promoter Colin 'Iley Dread' Levy looks for a massive turn out from neighbours and Kingstonians, his main wish is to encourage all patrons that he is guided by the mission statement which is, 'bringing people together'.
