Patrons to pay more for Plymouth Jazz Fest

Gladys Knight They are joining a cast that includes Al Green, Heather Headley and, headline act, Sir Elton John for the event which takes place Friday, April 27 - Sunday, April 29.

Organizers, CL Communications Network are yet to release the names of four other international artistes for whom final contractual arrangements are still being made.

Prolific hip-hop artiste LL Cool J and Jamaican-born reggae superstar, Sean Paul will be featured in the Friday nights show. Saturday's show, which is expected to kick off at 5 pm, will include R&B singer and Broadway actress Heather Headley and reggae singer, Beres Hammond who will perform alongside local soca star Destra Garcia and the band Atlantik.

The Sunday "Superstar" show will feature Earth Wind and Fire, Al Green and renowned singer and songwriter, Elton John. They will be joined by local superstar Machel Montano.

Elton John Tobago's soca band, Flame along with several other artistes from the island, including a pannist will be added to the cast as organizers try to introduce a stronger local presence at the event.

CL Communications CEO, Anthony Maharaj, told Sunday Newsday the price hike was inevitable because of the increased cost to host the event which will be considerably more than the TT $32 million spent on last year's show.

He said the prices could not be subsidized to suit locals and are reasonable given the popularity of the artistes booked to perform.
