Patrons to pay more for Plymouth Jazz Fest
 Gladys Knight, LL Cool J, Earth Wind and Fire, Sean Paul and Beres Hammond have been added to the star-studded line-up for the 2007 Plymouth Jazz Festival in Tobago.
Gladys Knight They are joining a cast that includes Al Green, Heather Headley and, headline act, Sir Elton John for the event which takes place Friday, April 27 - Sunday, April 29.
Organizers, CL Communications Network are yet to release the names of four other international artistes for whom final contractual arrangements are still being made.
Prolific hip-hop artiste LL Cool J and Jamaican-born reggae superstar, Sean Paul will be featured in the Friday nights show. Saturday's show, which is expected to kick off at 5 pm, will include R&B singer and Broadway actress Heather Headley and reggae singer, Beres Hammond who will perform alongside local soca star Destra Garcia and the band Atlantik.
The Sunday "Superstar" show will feature Earth Wind and Fire, Al Green and renowned singer and songwriter, Elton John. They will be joined by local superstar Machel Montano.
Elton John Tobago's soca band, Flame along with several other artistes from the island, including a pannist will be added to the cast as organizers try to introduce a stronger local presence at the event.
CL Communications CEO, Anthony Maharaj, told Sunday Newsday the price hike was inevitable because of the increased cost to host the event which will be considerably more than the TT $32 million spent on last year's show.
He said the prices could not be subsidized to suit locals and are reasonable given the popularity of the artistes booked to perform.

this is an amazing line up, but i also heard that mary j blidge will be performing also how true is that and can i get a full listing of the prices for tickets for the days and a list of how the performers will be performing. wish machel was performing on saturday night. great job get the best out here this year.

If it is ok to hate homosexuals, for whatever reason you want to name, then it is ok to hate blacks, and it is ok to hate jews, and it is ok to hate the poor, and of course it is ok to hate the handicapped! Do these 'moral' and 'religious' ( whatever they think that means!) people REALLY think that Jesus the Christ, who preached LOVE, would condone the hate and divisiveness that they spread? You don't have to LOVE and APPROVE of everything that everybody does- but if they are consenting adults they are NOT hurting anybody, so let them be! Or do you think the slavetraders were justified? Race discrimination laws in South Africa were justified? You better get with the program, because things are going to be changing DRASTICALLY in hte next 6 years, and people with such 'outmoded' beliefs will just not survive the coming changes. Thank you 'acceptance' for your wise comments - can't believe the outdated bigotry and hatred being preached from this tiny island - well, your tourism is going to drop, because the homophobia that some of your residents are preaching about is now making headlines across the UK and Europe - I for one will definitely not be visiting Tobago anytime soon if that's the attitude of it's people - You should be grateful that such talented musicians are gracing your shores to attend a music festival - it's not a religious conference - it's entertainment, so get over it, and wake up - this is 2007, not 1907..... ignorant people.

I love all of my children, regardless of colour, creed, sexuality or whatever. I have made different types of people in my world for different reasons. I have given free will to everyone. The reason i created Gay people is to add "colour" to the world. I thought it would be bland to just have heterosexual men and women. I have made some people to breed and some to create. If there was no Gay people in my world, you would not have Theatre, Fashion, Movies, Music, Design. Heterosexual people tend to go more for sport and work. I didn't want just that for my planet. In my experience, i have found through experiment that "Homophobia IS Gay" and this is well known. So be careful who you choose to HATE, as you are revealing something to others. It is funny the length's some will go to hide themselves. I love my Gay children. They are the only ones who unite all communities. I wish all of my children showed Unity. That is my plan! Don't be brainwashed by evil. Everything you know is Wrong. If you hate any of my children, then you hate ME too! One world, One Life, Sisters..Brothers. Hatred is the act of a Coward, Not a Man. I love you all, But get the balance right. Fight the real Enemy. Money and Religion are the evils. Nothing to do with me. Look at the stars, look at the sunset and educate yourself! Art is my gift. The Artist is a saint. Love and Respect everyone. Governments are evil. They tell you all lies! The Artist is my tool to making the world better. You all have different roads to take. Don't stop my children from doing their duty! or you will have to answer to me :o)

The nonsense I am reading about and hearing being spued by these homophobic people has me in a state of shock. We all know what the bible says, but each and everyone of us is a creation of God's and that means that He loves us all. Let Him be the judge of Elton John - not us. Let us celebrate the wonderful gift that God has given to Elton John, which he has chosen to share with the world.
