Dancehall Singer Lukie D - six-week European tour

LuckyD_Dancehall.jpgTop notch crooner Lukie D is embarking on a six-week tour of Europe which will see him appearing in gigs in countries such as Switzerland, Germany, and Spain, as well as two shows in the Middle East hotbeds of Tel-a-Viv and Jericho.

"I am looking forward to the tour because I always hold a nice vibe in Europe because that is place that loves roots music," he told YardFlex.com.

"A lot of people don't even know I can sing roots, but I have a good repertoire of songs. When I go to Europe, I can perform songs that don't get any airplay in Jamaica, but it shows that if you do good music, you can always earn because there are people who appreciate it," Lukie D, who scored a major roots hit, 'Heavy Load' in Europe as far back as 1995.

He attended the Oopsala Sundance festival in August.

He has a new album entitled 'Deliver Me' which is racking up sales all over the world. It was number two on the reggae charts in Japan, number five on the New York reggae charts and number six on the South Florida charts.

"I don't even know how the album made it to North America as it was really done for the European roots market, but it is a pleasant surprise to see it doing so well in the United States," he said.

Lukie D says all the songs are originals except for one, a cover of the Backstreet Boys' 'Drowning'. He will return to Jamaica to perform at shows such as Campfire and Jam Jam in December.

Over there they love roots music... Who told Jamaican artist that crap???

The current dancehall scene is what gets the hype, here as elsewhere.

We had Mr Vegas coming here singing Bob Marley tunes... Cmon... People are still laughing... And we have Matterhorn coming over here playing Pon The River Pon The Bank like it was the hottest thing around... Why havent ANYONE told them??
