SMIRNOFF ICE -The Perfect Mix, Remixed! Just Press Play!
Kingston, Jamaica - The blazing hot duo of Leftside and Esco will lend their star power and unmistakable musical prowess to the newest competition in town, the Smirnoff Ice Press Play Riddim Competition. Reknowned for their creativity in studio, on the mike and at the turntable, Leftside and Esco have built a baseline rhythm and aspiring music producers will be challenged to add their personal touch to the mix in an effort to unleash the hottest new tune that will hit the airwaves.
The public challenge is to come up with the next original hit rhythm. The base rhythm was chosen and will be aired. Contestants will take this base rhythm and add sounds to create a different rhythm on a specific genre of music that will be communicated through the media. An example of this is if the rhythm is up-tempo dancehall and the challenge will be to re-mix it along the lines of a hip-hop rhythm.
How do you enter?
Collect the base rhythm CD at any of the Red Stripe distribution centers, RE-TV and ZIP FM studios, do your remix and submit it with one proof of purchase from a six-pack of Smirnoff Ice, plus contact information. Every week a different genre gets thrown into the mix to keep things interesting.
How does it work?
8 finalists will be chosen from a pool of submissions that noted rhythm producers; radio personalities and other key persons in the music industry made selections from. Then for 6 weeks the contestants will play off against each other to determine the winner (on the radio).
The launch event will be November 10, 2006 and the finals, December 15, 2006 will culminate the end of the promotion at which the winner will be chosen. Expert producers will be on the panel of judges every week and will pay particular attention to sound, quality and authenticity of the rhythm.
