Former lovers-turned-rivals Sasha and Turbulence have embarked on a lyrical war of sorts on the new Downsound Records' 'Sika' rhythm. The songs have been creating quite a buzz in dancehall circles as they are centred around the couple's juicy break-up last year.
Just two years ago, the two basked in the glow of their relationship, recording popular songs such as 'Natty Pon Di Frontline' and the hit single, 'We've Got The Love', with an accompanying video that seemed
to cement their blossoming relationship.
However, the entertainers' relationship soured late last year after Sasha found out about Turbulence's 'extra-curricular' activities outside their relationship. All that was months ago, but last week,
Turbulance recorded a single called 'No Man No Perfect' and Sasha returned fire with the well-written 'Got What You Need'.
Turbulance's single, 'No Man No Perfect' in part, mocks the ex-couple's 'We've Got The Love' song, and suggests that it was rumour-mongering that caused the end of their Relationship, and declared in no uncertain terms that "mi nah look yu back".
For her part, Sasha replied with 'Got What You Need', a competent rebuttal of Turbulance's comments. There are some choice lines such as 'mi know yuh a man and mi muss get bun, but sex without a condom a careless fun'. But she also pokes fun at him using a man's voice to illustrate how Turbulance tried to justify his actions by saying:
"Selassie I Jah Rastafari, a jacket dem a gi I, anno lie I a lie."

Anyway, in the meantime, most people are quietly surprised that this friction has cropped up now. Sources close to Turbulence believe that it was a recent appearance by Sasha on CVM/'s 'Onstage' show hosted by Winford Williams that ticked him off. Turbulance, whose latest album, the intriguingly titled 'X-Girlfriend' was just released, could not be reached for comment, but sources close to the deejay revealed that he was upset about one comment in particular when she said: "He is not the same person I met..." Now, with the songs being leaked to commercial radio, conversations have turned to the relationship and the 'passa passa' surrounding the new songs. When contacted, Sasha refused to comment on the relationship, but did say:
"I heard his song, so I did my song...I am not into it anymore, and I am not doing anything else about it, there will be no more replies from me," she said.
Asked if there was anything in particular about the CVM interview that might have upset Turbulance, she responded curtly:
"I don't know. No comment."
Sources close to both artistes said that the couples' break-up happened when Sasha found out that Turbulance had gotten engaged to Sasha and another girl at the same time. Later, as luck would have it, Sasha and the girl, who is younger than Sasha, became
friends and soon found out about Turbulance's duplicity. Both women went to his mother's house, and there was a 'hataclaps' where all things were revealed. After that, Sasha broke up with him, but
Turbulance reportedly continued his relationship with the other woman.
