bebecool3.jpgThe entertainment scenario in East Africa is once again blessed with an award giving ceremony due to take place in Kenya's capital Nairobi come 15th July this 2006. According to Victor Mayeya ,the CEO of the event,it will be boosted by South African music television Channel O to show and market this event across the continent and beyond.Channel O is also to hand over the best artist award during the event in its recognition among other related activities to take place that day.

Unlike in the ended Kilimanjaro Music Awards in Tanzania which seemed to focus on only its artists and Peal of Africa Music Awards yet to happen in Uganda latter this year,Kisima music Awards in Kenya are to give a real UTAKE (Uganda ,TAnzania,KEnya) taste as it brings together various musician from all the three countries that make up the East African Community as they share lake Victoria believed to mother the source of river Nile.

Those nominated include Tanzania's undisputed best producer Pfunk Majani competing with Kenya's Ogopa DJs and Uganda's fast-rising producer Washington, behind hits like Africa unite by the East African Reggae Bashment crew which features on the official African Reggae CD. In the Ragga/dancehall category it is the Bashment crew against Redsun best known for his track titled Chicken well as in Reggae it is again the Bashment Crew against Ousman nominated with Nuks.

"OUR HERITAGE OF SPLENDOR" is this year's theme which shows that we are going back to our roots and cultureas we seek to give direction to the music industry. The entertainers of the day will include Juma nature from Tanzania ,Morice Kirya and Obsessions of Uganda alongside Jua cali ,Longombas ,Nameless and many more artists from Kenya.
