The 'Messenjah', Luciano, along with Andrew Tosh and Dean Fraser and the Jah Messenjah Band left the island on June 15 for a seven week tour of Europe in Manchester UK. From there, they will head to Liverpool on June 17 then perform on a huge Father's Day show at the Brixton Academy alongside Culture and Abyssinians on the bill as a tribute to all fathers.
The tour moves on to Brighton, Bristol, Shrewsbury, Stoke, Newport, before trekking across to Europe to places like Holland, Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, and Germany to name a few.
"Some of the German shows will be staged as a celebration in conjunction with some of the World Cup Soccer matches stage in different venues across Germany, and a cross section of fans from different countries around the world are expected to attend these shows which have been indicated by the pre-sale of tickets reported by the various promoters in the regions," Copeland Forbes, head of Comar Productions, and manager of Luciano, told YardFlex.Com.
The famous Summerjam, which was always staged the first weekend in July in Koln, had to be moved this year to the following week of July 13 to 15 to accommodate the finals of the World Cup match. The line up for Summerjam 2006 includes artistes like Jimmy Cliff, Luciano, Andrew Tosh, Damian "Junior Gong" Marley, Elephant Man, Cecile, T.O.K, Morgan Heritage, Junior Kelly and Ziggy Marley.
"The messenjah, Luciano, Andrew Tosh and the 23 man entourage will trek across Europe in two double deck coaches as they spread the reggae vibes across Europe," Mr. Forbes said.
Some of the major festivals that the 'Messenjah' will play are Rotom Sunsplash in Italy, Reggae Fiesta in Belgium, Barcelona Reggae Fest in Barcelona, Spain, Scandinavia Reggae Fest in Sweden and Reggaemania in Rome, Italy. The group will also celebrate International
Reggae Day July 1 in Rovereto, Italy, and will return to the UK August 1 for a special performance at the London Jazz Cafe in celebration of the birthday of veteran manager and tour cordinator Copeland Forbes.The entourage returns to Jamaica August 2 for Reggae Sunsplash where the messenger is slated to perform August 4 and what a show that will be with the group fresh from their European Tour
The 'Messenjah' will leave early August for Hawaii,Guam, Saipan and Reggae Sunsplash in Yokohama Japan where he,ll be joined by the likes of Jimmy Cliff, Freddie McGregor, Wayne Wonder and Maxi Priest. Luciano and his entourage returns to Jamaica to make a special appearance at the big Reggae concert planned for Coal Wharf Port Royal August 26 which will also feature John Holt, Richie Stephens and others.
"He then takes a well deserved break before heading off to North America in promotion of his new CD on VP Records," Mr. Forbes said.
