lyfe jennings.jpg.htmThe three day Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival 2006: The Art of Music, transforms the picturesque Rose Hall Resort and Country Club in Montego Bay from Thursday, January 26 through to Saturday, January 28 next year. Joining this year's lineup is the man with the gritty falsetto and lyrical songwriting skills, Lyfe Jennings.

The Ohio native recently released his debut album which continues to climb the Billboard charts every week. This soulful artiste doesn't have the typical beginnings of an artiste in the business today. Lyfe had to serve a ten-year sentence (for arson). While he was incarcerated, he got his hands on a copy of Erykah Badu's Baduism and worked diligently to develop his "honest sound" and deepening his music.

Only two days after his December 2002 release from prison, Lyfe Jennings was busy recording a four-song demo CD. The day after that, he was on stage performing live in a club. After only a month of freedom, he was on-stage at the famous Apollo. He was booed when he walked on-stage with an acoustic guitar but when the Apollo audience heard what he had to offer, they were immediately swayed.

Lyfe enjoyed five amateur night victories in a row at the Apollo. This led to tons of calls from promoters and record label execs on his answering machine back in Ohio. This influenced Lyfe to move to New York City and pursue a major label deal. Columbia had the right offer and released his debut, Lyfe 268-192 (his inmate number), in August of 2004.

Also confirmed for the festival are: Shaggy, Al Green, John Legend, Maxi Priest, Morgan Heritage, James Ingram, Air Supply and many more!
