JAMAICAN DANCEHALL artiste Elephant Man was the DJ Pon de Replay at The Plantation Garden Theatre early yesterday morning.
Elephant Man, now sporting red and yellow braids, hit the stage around 3:40 a.m. and managed to wring the last bit of energy from the weary crowd. The hyper performer was making a special appearance with headliner and singing sensation Rihanna for the remix of the popular Pon de Replay.
It was as if the Jamaican was performing on his own. He danced and jumped around on stage and found his way in the crowd as he commanded full attention in the Billboard chart-topping hit. Rihanna was the final act on the Barbados leg of the Caribbean Rising concert series for the November 21 launch of MTV's newest channel Tempo, which will have strictly Caribbean content.
The concert also captured the talent of David Kirton, Toni Norville and Peter Ram, Statement, Kimberly Inniss, Li'l Rick, krosfyah, Natahlee and Shontelle, Alison Hinds and Rupee, which will be shown to subscribers around the world.
