Westmoreland cops probe businessman's murder

crime-scene-gun.jpgThe Westmoreland police are yet to make a breakthrough into Monday night's shooting death of a businessman at his home in the parish, during which his licensed firearm was stolen.

The deceased man has been identified as Andrew Dennis, 44, of Campbellton Gardens, Westmoreland.

Reports are that about 11:00 p.m., after closing his business place, Dennis was in the process of driving into his yard when he was pounced upon and shot up by unknown assailants.

He was robbed of an undetermined sum of cash and his licensed firearm.

The police were summoned and upon their arrival, Dennis was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Whithorn police are investigating.
