hands-behind-bars.jpgInvestigators from the Major Investigation Division (MID) have detained the caretaker employed to the Church of God of Prophecy in Spanish Town, St Catherine, for questioning in connection with the murder of Pastor James Johnson. The caretaker was arrested Sunday during a raid at his house along Old Harbour Road in Spanish Town.

Acting Assistant Commissioner McArthur Sutherland, head of the Criminal Investigation Branch, reports that the cops went in search of the caretaker who had been eluding investigators over the last two weeks. He was found hiding in the ceiling of his house.

According to the senior investigator, the cops had been searching for the caretaker to ask him some questions about the "differing statements" he gave to investigators about the shooting death of Pastor Johnson. Investigators began preliminary questioning on Sunday, however, he is to be questioned in the presence of his attorney on Monday.

Acting ACP Sutherland declined to say whether he is a suspect.

Ballistics tests are now being conducted on the licensed firearm of the caretaker. A post mortem performed on Wednesday revealed that Pastor Johnson died after being shot in the neck and back by his assailant.

He was killed on the compound of the Church of God of Prophecy on September 23. It was reported that the 29 year old pastor was in his office at the church when he was attacked and shot. His licensed firearm was stolen.
