ganja-seized.jpgThe Narcotics Division of the Jamaica Constabulary Force say they have placed a dent in the illicit ganja trade with the seizure of over 2,000 pounds of compressed ganja in Manchester on Friday.

Reports are that between 11:30 a.m., and 1:00 p.m. the police searched sections of the bushes along the coast line in Gutts River in the Alligator Pond area of Manchester, where several packages of marijuana were found.

No one was arrested. Members of the Narcotics Division are investigating.

The find follows Thursday's seizure of about 1300 pounds of compressed ganja in St Elizabeth.

Reports are that about about 8:00 p.m., members of the JDF Coast Guard were on patrol when they intercepted a vessel in the vicinity of Fort Charles Beach, Treasure Beach in St Elizabeth with three men aboard.

A search of the vessel revealed several packages of compressed ganja, weighing about 1300 pounds.

The men were taken into custody and the drug seized.
