St. Kitts didn't know Jamaican fugitive was in their country

The police in St. Kitts say they were unaware a Jamaican man who arrived there in January was wanted until he was arrested in Antigua on Friday.

Fitzroy Andre Coore, 23, was held shortly after he arrived at the V.C Bird International Airport on a flight from St. Kitts.

A statement from the St. Kitts police said he arrived in the country on January 18 on a flight from Antigua and at the time of entry he was not flagged as a wanted person.

The police said there was nothing to indicate that their Jamaican counterparts were seeking Mr. Coore's arrest.

They say their enquiries have also revealed that it was not until last month that the authorities in Antigua and Barbuda were notified of his status and they were put on watch.

But they say the authorities in St. Kitts and Nevis were still not notified of this development.
