Parish judge Sandria Wong Small have given the St James police permission to hold the Sparta deejay for another seven days after which he must be charged or released from custody. She made the order after the entertainer's attorneys, Tom Tavares-Finson and Donahue Martin, made a habeas corpus application on his behalf in the St James Parish Court today. A habeas corpus application is a writ which requires that a detainee be brought before a judge, especially to secure his release, unless lawful grounds are shown for continued detention.

Tommy Lee Sparta, was transferred from Kingston to the Freeport Police Station in Montego Bay on Monday morning, hours after he was taken into custody in the corporate area. The police say Tommy Lee is being held under the state of public emergency in St James, although they deny that he was transported to St James specifically for this reason.
