Tributes, tears as family man and SDA stalwart, Lorenzo Eschoe gunned down

lorenzo-eschoe.jpgThe Washington Gardens SDA church posted on their Facebook page Friday morning that their church family is in mourning following the death of their stalwart, Lorenzo Eschoe, who was murdered in Havendale last Thursday night

Eschoe, a certifying officer who was assigned to the Spanish Town Examination Depot in St Catherine was shot and killed in Havendale, St Andrew, at about 10 pm on Thursday.

Police reports are that Eschoe was standing beside his Toyota Wish Motor car at a premises on Lydia Drive in Havendale when men travelling in a Toyota Probox motor car pulled up beside him and shot him seven times

Eschoe died at the spot. His licensed firearm is believed to have been stolen.

In their remembrance, the Washington Gardens church stated: "The Church is deeply saddened by his passing and the circumstances of his death. Uncle Lorenzo as he is affectionately called by all members of the Gemini Pathfinder Club, whose lives he has touched during his sterling and dedicated service to the club; grew up in the Church. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. We wish to express our condolences to his immediate and extended family. Tributes poured out on social with many stating that Eschoe was a wonderful human being whose life was cut short, but noted that God is still in control.

Michael G Lee stated: "Sometimes when we are pained we really done think it through to realize that the GOD who takes us up to our mountain tops and causes us to to be in such a high, still remains the very same GOD when we have our "Down-in-the-valley" experiences.

Our hearts have been torn for two days now. Weep if we must ( CHRIST wept what HIS friend, Lazarus died); but let us lean on the everlasting arms of Almighty GOD and be drawn closer to HIM.

Marlene Weise, in her tribute declared: "Condolences...May God continue to give all who are grieving especially his family the strength and hope at this time."

Patricia Young, Pathfinder District Director and Adventurers Director at Meadowvale SDA Church, confessed that she has been crying since Thursday, and hailed Eschoe as an awesome man, who "has been involved in the Pathfinder movement from he was a child".

"If you're meeting Lorenzo for the first time, you feel as if you have known him all your life. I have something to do this weekend for Pathfinder and Lorenzo down as one of my speakers," she shared.

Claudette Genas, Family Ministries Director at EJC offered grief counseling at the Washington Gardens SDA Church last Saturday and moment of silence at the Half Way Tree SDA Church in memory of the life Lorenzo Eschoe.
