Gun, ammo, lots of cash found on man arriving on flight from the US

ak-47-assault-rifle-ammo.jpgA passenger on a flight arriving from the United States was arrested and charged after a pistol and live rounds of ammunition, and a large sum of undeclared cash were allegedly found in his luggage during a search at the Sangster International Airport on Thursday night.

The accused has been identified as 24-year-old mechanic, Jordan Subaran of a Decatur, Georgia, USA address, and also of New Town, Black River in St Elizabeth.

Reports are that Subaran arrived in the island on board a Delta Airlines flight from Atlanta, Georgia at about 9:00 pm on Thursday, February 8.

His luggage was searched and a 9mm Ruger pistol with serial number 33723, along with 29 rounds of 9mm cartridges, were reportedly found.

Additionally, US$63,000, which was not declared, was found concealed in a bag of sweets.

The money has been seized by Customs.

Subaran was charged with failure to declare, and is due to appear in the Western Regional Gun Court.
