The British Government has issued a warning to its citizens who are staying at resorts in Montego Bay, St James.

The Foreign Office today urged British nationals to stay inside their hotels and limit travel beyond their respective security perimeters.

It also urged them to exercise particular care if they have to travel at night and to follow the advice of Jamaican authorities, including restrictions in selected areas.

Similar warnings have also been issued by the governments of the United States and Canada.

The warnings were issued in response to the spate of killings in St James and the state of public emergency imposed in the parish by Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
