damian-marley.jpgThe Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards took place in Leeds at the First Direct Arena on Thursday and the nominees in the Best Reggae Act category were: Aidonia, Alkaline, Chronixx, Damian Marley and Popcaan.

Six-time nominee, Damian Marley, walked away with the prize for his impactful Stony Hill album. Jr. Gong also won in 2005.

Two-time winner Popcaan, was left empty-handed, and whereas Damian Marley has another shot at a big award, the ReEggae Grammy, Poppi isn't so lucky, as he wasn't nominated this year.

Chronixx and Alkaline scored their third nomination while Aidonia was nominated for the first time.

This year the Best Reggae Act category and also other category were not open for public voting. Last year, it was public voting combined with the MOBO Awards academy's results, which determined the winners.

Yardflex congratulates Junior Gong.
