Action Fire is back with Questions

action-fire.jpgFollowing a 17-year absence from the local scene, Deejay Action Fire has returned with the single Question on his longtime label, Musically Inclined Records.

"The song is about knowing yourself. Almost everyone will have the experience of just sitting down and asking yourself one or even a thousand questions," he said.

In explaining his absence, the God Alone deejay stated: "I migrated to the United Kingdom, so I have been working with a lot of producers there. I have not travelled much back and forth so I didn't get a chance to promote a lot of the songs in Jamaica. However, I still reside overseas; I will be promoting a lot now locally with Question being one of the first singles."

Action Fire, given name Fitzgerald McKoy, was born in the parish of St Mary. His career started out in the early 1990s on community sound systems and jukeboxes. He began recording under the moniker Major Fire and released God is Good and Ride Me Mind for producer King Jammy's .He later changed his name to Action Fire and in 1994 he got his first major hit when he went to Record Factory to make a dublplate.

"I met the operators of a Japanese sound system who wanted me to do a dub plate with Merciless and Little Hero, and it was there that the God Alone collaboration came about," he said.

Action Fire said the song was later recorded at Mixing Lab Studios in Kingston and from there it went on to become a dancehall/reggae hit. The single's success, he said, took them on tours of sections of the United States, Canada, Caribbean, and Europe. He later released other songs like Tan So bad, Compliments, Found Gold and Love and Harmony. However, in 2000 Action Fire went under the radar as it relates to the local entertainment scene, but said he never took a break from recording.
