This means that Kartel, whose given name is Adidja Palmer; Shawn Campbell; Kahira Jones; and Andre St John are now free to be heard in the Court of Appeal in their bid to overturn their conviction and sentence.

Attorneys representing the four men are expected to contest their convictions and sentences in the Court of Appeal in September. The men were convicted in the Home Circuit Court in March 2014. They were sentenced the following month to life imprisonment, with the possibility of parole after serving a period of 25 and 35 years behind bars.

Palmerl must serve 35 years before becoming eligible for parole, while Andre St. John was ordered to serve 30 years. Campbell and Jones were ordered to serve 25 years before being eligible for parole.

The men are represented by a legal team including Tom Tavares-Finson, Valerie Neita Robertson, Bert Samuels and Robert Fletcher.
