jamaica-travel-channel-promotes-ganja.jpgIn a very significant and historic move, the Jamaica Travel Channel via Instagram has included marijuana, or ganja as the weed is more popularly known, as one of the reasons visitors should come to the island.

In a picture posted recently, the Jamaica Travel Channel showcased three marijuana joints and a grinder with the words Jamaica carved in it. The picture was captioned "Come for an irie time mon!"

Many Jamaicans have long been calling for the legalization of ganja, and the former government made steps in this direction. It has been an open secret that the good Jamaican ganja has been one reason for visitors to come to the island, but, up until recently, ganja has been illegal and the possession of weed a criminal offence.

The Jamaican government last year approved the decriminalization of small amounts of ganja for personal use.

furtyle-brain-makes-ripleys-believe-it-or-not.jpgIt is still up for debate whether the brain of the deejay who calls himself Furtyle is in fact, simply futile. This forward thinking young man decided to place implants - goat horns to e exact - in his forehead, in what was perhaps a not-so-futile attempt at stardom.

The goat horn implants earned Furtyle Brain a slot in the popular Ripley's "Believe It Or Not' column...but little else in terns of notoriety.

The big question still remains: WHY?

Anyway, the latest in this saga is that Furtyle Brain - who is yet to buss- recently removed said goat horn implants because of reports that they were giving him ...you guessed it: HEADACHES.e.

Question: Where will Furtyle Brain place the goat horns implants next?

crime-scene-knife.jpgThe police are seeking 26 year-old Sadan Lloyd Mullings of Elgin Town, Lucea in Hanover, who is wanted in connection with several serious crimes in western Jamaica and St Ann.

The police are urging Mullings to immediately turn himself in to the nearest police station.

Reports are that about 9:00 pm last night a team of police from the Mobile Reserve and Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) was conducting operations at Armadale, Alexandria in St Ann in search of men implicated in the quadruple murder in Westmoreland on Saturday, March 18.

The police say the lawmen strategically cordoned the premises and instructed the occupants to exit. However, explosive devices were reportedly thrown at the police team. The devices were two grenades, one of which JDF soldiers managed to prevent from detonating.

The policeman who was injured in the incident is said to be recovering, while the gunman who was killed remains unidentified.

'Bully beef' Ban still in place

corned-beef-in-tin.jpg corned-beef.jpgDonovan Stanberry, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, said the ban remains in place until the Jamaican authorities have completed their investigations.

"Our team is going to go down to Brazil some time next week...so when we would have gone there, we would be in a position to verify and satisfy ourselves that the (direct) sources from which our corned beef comes are wholesome, so that we can advise the country accordingly," he asserted.

Earlier, the Industry and Commerce Ministry had said it was satisfied with the response from retailers in withdrawing Brazilian corned beef from the shelves since Monday's recall.

It said the major distributors of the product have been cooperating. However, Mr. Stanbury, said there will be challenges in monitoring the general retail trade.

"Of course it is easier to monitor the situation in the larger establishments and get compliance. The greater challenge is monitoring the compliance in some of the smaller establishments in the market and so on because we would not have enough human resources to go to every single establishment (so) we are depending on people complying voluntarily, taking responsibility of their health in terms of consumers not buying and people understanding that this is a precautionary measure," he declared.

The police are this afternoon seeking a man implicated in a grenade-throwing incident on Thursday, in which a police sergeant was injured and an alleged gunman killed.

corned-beef-in-tin.jpgcorned-beef.jpgThe Brazilian embassy in Jamaica is urging the Government to reconsider the ban on corned beef imports from the South American country.

The Jamaican authority on Monday issued an immediate ban on corned beef products coming out of Brazil, due to wide scale investigations into the sale of rotten beef and poultry by Brazilian meat processors.

In a statement on Thursday, the Brazilian embassy said the 21 meat processing companies under investigation do not have export arrangements with Jamaica. The embassy said the companies that export to Jamaica operate within all licensing and health regulations.

It stated that the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture has a rigorous inspection service for animal products with permanent auditing, monitoring and risk assessment. The embassy said it is in contact with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries for any clarification needed on the matter.

The police are maintaining a strong presence in the community of Armadale in St. Ann following last night's incident which left a policeman injured, a suspect dead and another on the run.

Police have confirmed that they were in search of two men wanted in connection with a quadruple killing in Bath, Westmoreland last week.

Deputy Superintendent Richard Hylton, in charge of crime for St. Ann, on Friday afternoon said that an extensive search of the area was carried out with assistance from the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF).

He said the operation is ongoing to locate the other suspect, while the security forces ensure that the area remains safe for citizens.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Clifford Blake, in charge of Strategic Operations, the police surrounded an unfinished building when a man threw two hand grenades and opened gunfire. One of the grenades exploded, injuring a policeman.

The police returned gunfire and one of the suspects was shot.

Brazil's president on Tuesday said the scandal over the sale of expired meat is an economic embarrassment for the country.

President Michel Temer sought to downplay the scandal, calling it a "fuss" and noting that only three of the more than 4,000 meat packing plants in Brazil have been forced to close.

The European Union, mainland China and Chile have halted some meat imports from Brazil, a major blow to the struggling economy of the country that is among the world's largest exporters of meat.

Brazilian investigators charge that health inspectors were bribed to overlook the sale of expired meats. Police also allege that the appearance and smell of expired meats were improved by using chemic

Corn beef still selling downtown

Despite the recall on corned beef, some street vendors and wholesales in downtown Kingston continue to sell the product.

While acknowledging that a ban is in place, sellers reportedly told a popular news team that they would not stop selling corned beef saying they could not absorb the financial loss. They say it is up to consumers to determine if they want to buy the product.

Meanwhile, it was a different case in the Cross Roads area of the city where corned beef was removed from store shelves. The Commerce Ministry has cautioned customers not to eat corned beef until further notice.

The import ban was imposed after news came that several major Brazilian meat processors have been selling rotten beef and poultry and had allegedly bribed auditors to look the other way.

The ministry said the implicated Brazilian companies supply 99.5 per cent of the corned beef being sold in Jamaica. It said the National Food Recall Committee will meet to determine next steps and inform when it will be safe to consume corned beef.

GraceKennedy says consumers with corned beef can return them to retailers for a refund.

Andrea Coy, head of Domestic Foods at GraceKennedy, says representatives from the company's merchandising division have started to remove the product from the shelves.

She, however, stressed that GraceKennedy has always taken product quality and safety seriously and its suppliers have consistently provided certification that they have met the required standard of international regulators.

She said a team from Grace Foods will be making an urgent trip to Brazil to meet with suppliers and conduct further investigations into the matter.

Brown also returned to his Drai's residency last weekend putting on a show for his fans. His "Party Tour" gets underway on March 31st.

"Bruk Off Yuh Back (Remix)" will be a sure hit for the summer. The original was already a huge hit and this will only serve to boost the single and give Konshens more international appeal. The single is currently available on iTunes.

Culture vultures at it again?

When Mr Vegas called out Drake last year for his fake friendship with Popcaan, dancehall swooped down on Vegas and made it look as if MV was doing something wrong.

Well, these same fans of Popcaan are beginning to realise that there is indeed something fake about the friendship with Drake. Drake took the Popcaan collab, 'Controlla' off his Views album last year and then, to add insult to injury, Drake releases a new dancehalll flavoured album - down to the title 'More Life' -- and again Poppy, his friend for life, doesn't get a feature.

Instead, Drake, who always professes to be a fan of dancehall and Popcaan - 'OVO/Unruly the same thing" Drake has said many a time -- has a slew of other acts on the album. BUT NOT ONE AUTHENTIC DANCEHALL ARTISTE?!

Wow!! Really sick and tired of the culture vultures and Drake seems to be a prime example of one. And, listen up, this whole thing didn't start with his association with Unruly, Drake is known for this kind of behaviour.

Below are a few comments from a Reddit thread dating back to 2015 regarding Drake being a culture vulture:

[-]swagmaster9006 11 points 1 year ago

Drake is a self-serving asshole that plays the music/celebrity game very shrewdly, is how I think of him

He does write songs that the everyman can relate to, but I think that's less of him being a relatable everyman at heart whose music is true to his experience, and more him capitalizing on the everyman's experience by writing (admittedly pretty catchy and relatable, in a calculated sort of way) music about it.

This is the part that really sums up the Drake/Popcaan relationship..and this was before there was a OVO/Unruly link up: "Likewise, he latches on to underground artists not because he is selflessly bigging up their work and boosting their careers, but because his image gets a boost from it and he doesn't have to come up with his own idea. I understand that everyone does some of that and it is undeniably a career boost for the artists he chooses to work with, but again he is capitalizing on their ideas."

Well said Swagmaster.

Read the rest of the thread to see where this culture vulture thing with Fake Drake had its genesis: "[-]c941 year ago

"Itt doesn't sit right with me or others when a big artist takes ideas from another emerging artist and doesn't credit them. DRAM deserves something from Drake, without him there'd be no Hotline Bing. He needs to give back to the people that he takes from and feed his stardom.

[-]swagmaster9006 1 year ago

"You know, like in Jamaica, you'll have a riddim and it's like, everyone has to do a song on that," Drake said. "Imagine that in rap, or imagine that in R&B. Imagine if we got one beat and every single person--me, this guy, this guy, all these guys--had to do a song on that one beat. So sometimes I'll pick a beat that's a bit, like, sunnier, I guess is the word you used, than usual, and I just try my hand at it. And that's kind of what 'Hotline Bling' was. And I loved it. It's cool. I've been excited by that sort of creative process." (Quote from Drake)

I would be more down with this logic if Drake was commissioning his own beats and sharing them with other people as well as taking them but I only see Drake taking... this does not fly with me

[-]c94 1 year ago

Yeah, that's where the idea of Drake being a 'Culture Vulture' thing is coming from. He is benefiting from others' work and ideas without giving back."

Well, in closig, we can only echo what one Popcaan fans stated: "JUSTICE FOR POPPY!

usain-bolt-the-big-man.jpgThe statue commissioned by the government to honour track and field legend, Usain Bolt, is expected to be completed in time for the country's 55th Independence celebrations in August.

That's the word from Sports Minister Olivia Grange, who says the eight-foot sculpture will be mounted in the Statue Park at the National Stadium in Kingston.

The statue is being designed and created by renowned Jamaican sculptor Basil Watson. Grange says the statue will serve as a lasting tribute to the global sprint star, whose world record breaking performances in the 100 and 200-metre sprints have left the world in awe.

Bolt has announced that he plans to retire after the World Championships in London later this year and Grange says the unveiling of the statue will coincide with his departure from international competition. Statues of three other outstanding Jamaican athletes: Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Asafa Powell and Veronica Campbell-Brown, are also slated to be mounted inside Statue Park as part of the development of the National Stadium complex.

Grange was speaking at the recent media launch of the JN Racers Grand Prix, which will be Bolt's final competitive race in Jamaica.

A $180 million lawsuit was dropped on RJR Communications Group and the Jamaica Mortgage Bank (JMB). Banker Dalton Myrie, a former loans officer at JMB is suing for defamation.

Myrie said in court documents that the "false and defamatory" information was provided to the media entity by the bank, where he worked for 20 years.

He's also seeking an injunction preventing the media entity or its servants or agents from republishing the defamatory material that was first published in February 2016.

Documents filed in Supreme Court recently said that despite Myrie's impeccable record, he was the subject of a sting operation and was wrongly charged for corrupt performance of his role as a loans officer with the JMB. The suit claims that RJR inaccurately reported the circumstances of his arrest and charge.

Robert Collie -- the attorney representing Myrie -- stated in court documents that the former loans officer was forced to resign from the mortgage bank but was exonerated by the court due to lack of evidence.

Myrie has said in court documents that the reason for his arrest is that a senior JMB official had a vendetta against him due to his (Myrie's) role in revealing to the JMB Board that the official had threatened a JMB client. He said the official was sanctioned by the Board, which triggered the conspiracy that lead to his arrest. He claimed that a client of the bank was also forced to participate in the plot against him.

dj-ebro.jpgAmerica's Hot 97 radio station's DJ Ebro has come under fire from the dancehall fraternity after posting a tweet claiming that Canadian Rapper Drake and British singer Ed Sheeran are bringing back dancehall.

His comment follows the success of Sheeran's latest album Divide, which has a lot of dancehall influences. Sheeran's single Shape of You which has a dancehall beat, was recently remixed to include Jamaican artistes Nyla and Kranium.

Drake's last release Views also had a strong dancehall presence, from the use of the Jamaican creole, to reggae beats, to dancehall features with Beenie Man and Popcaan. Rihanna and Nicki Minaj who are both from Caribbean Islands have always included the culture in their music. Canadian artistes Tory Lanez and Justin Beiber have also done recent samples of dancehall music.

Since Ebro's post, many have flocked to social media to express their discontent with his statement.

british-girl-dies-portland-jamaica.jpgA Denbighshire teenager who left Wales to sail around the world with her family 10 years ago has fallen to her death in Jamaica.

Bethany Smith, 18, was working as a deckhand on a luxury schooner.

She fell while working high up a mast of the 196 ft (60m) vessel Germania Nova which was berthed in the Jamaican town of Port Antonio, Portland.

Her mother Sarah is in Trinidad, whilst her father David is working in the Netherlands.

The teenager spent her early years in Glyndyfrdwy, Corwen, but her parents set sail from Aberystwyth in April 2007 in their yacht "Cape" along with her younger brother Bryn.

After spending three years cruising around the Mediterranean, the family sailed on to the Canary Islands and west Africa where they spent a further two years before crossing the Atlantic in March 2012.

They have since toured the Caribbean islands extensively, writing about their travels online.

Writing in a blog last year, Ms Smith's mother said the family was delighted she had got a job as a trainee on the Germania Nova.

She joined the crew of the schooner in February last year, later crossing the Atlantic on the vessel for the summer charter season in the Mediterranean.

Jamaican police said Ms Smith was cleaning the schooner's mast on Tuesday afternoon when the ropes became undone and she fell on to the deck.

She died later in hospital from multiple injuries.

It said Roger Rayson, who was transferred from the LaSalle Detention Facility to LaSalle General Hospital on February 11 for nausea, vomiting and increased pain, died on Monday. ICE said LaSalle General Hospital diagnosed Rayson with Burkitt Lymphoma (non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma).

Consistent with agency protocols, the appropriate state health and local law enforcement agencies have been advised of the death, as have the [US] Department of Homeland Security's Office of Inspector General and the ICE Office of Professional Responsibility," ICE said, adding that it has also informed Jamaican consular officials and the deceased's next of kin.

ICE said Rayson was arrested on November 24, 2014, by US Customs and Border Protection in Miami for possession of cocaine. On April 24, 2015, Rayson was convicted of importation of cocaine and sentenced to 30 months incarceration by the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida. The Federal Bureau of Prisons released Rayson to the custody of New Orleans ICE on January 28, 2017.

Rayson is the second detainee to pass away in ICE custody so far this year and his death comes as US President Donald Trump has vowed a hiring surge of 10,000 immigration and customs officers to accelerate the deportation of unauthorised Caribbean and other immigrants. (Source: CMC)

New Ferguson video sparks renewed protest

ferguson-photo-1.jpgA newly disclosed surveillance video from the hours before a black man's death in Ferguson at the hands of police has triggered fresh protests.

A filmmaker has released the footage which he says shows Michael Brown did not rob a shop, as police claimed, but instead exchanged marijuana for cigars.

He says it contradicts video released by police showing Brown threatening the shopkeeper as he walks out with cigars.

The 18-year-old was moments later shot dead by a police officer.

However, the convenience store maintains it was a robbery.

Policeman Darren Wilson was cleared of wrongdoing by investigators but the teenager's death in Ferguson, Missouri, led to violent protests and a national debate about lethal police force against African Americans.

ferguson-photo-2.jpg

On Sunday night, 100 people gathered outside the shop after news emerged of the new video.

The previously unreported footage shows Brown entering the Ferguson Market and Liquor around 01:00 on the day of his death.

He approaches the counter and hands over an item that appears to be a brown bag, and in exchange takes a shopping bag filled with cigars.

After walking towards the door, he then turns around and returns the cigars to the counter before leaving.

Jason Pollock, the filmmaker releasing the tape as part of his documentary Stranger Fruit, says it proves that Brown had not been committing a strong-arm robbery when he returned to that store around noon later in the day.

In that encounter, he is seen shoving store owner Andy Patel before leaving with the cigars.

donald-trump-photo-3.jpgDonald Trump might have to fold or show his cards on his claims about Obama wiretapping his phones ... the House Intelligence Committee wants proof by Monday.

The committee -- chaired by Republican Devin Nunes and ranking Democrat/Trump skeptic Adam Schiff -- fired off a letter to the Justice Department, asking for evidence of Trump's explosive allegations by the start of the upcoming week.

The director of the FBI, James Comey, reportedly received a copy of the letter. Comey has already asked the Justice Dept. to publicly deny Trump's claims.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Barack Obama has flat out denounced the claims as false.

So far, Trump has not provided any evidence for his claims ... and has not publicly responded to the committee's request.

tax-increase.jpgMotorists and cigarette smokers will begin paying more today as several of the tax measures announced last Thursday by Finance Minister Audley Shaw are now in effect. There has been an across-the-board increase of 20 per cent on motor-vehicle licences and related fees.

The Special Consumption Tax (SCT) on alcoholic beverages has also gone up, from a single rate of $1,120 per litre of pure alcohol to $1,230 per litre.

The SCT charged per stick on tobacco products has moved from $14.00 to $17.00. This will be applicable to cigarettes, cigars as well as cigarillos.

Carreras, which is a major distributor of cigarettes in Jamaica, has increased the prices for its products, as a consequence, effective today.

It is expected that the cigarette tax will result in $826 million flowing into the Government's coffers.

rapist-pastor-paul-hanniford.jpgPaul Hanniford, the pastor who was on Friday sentenced to 20 years in prison for having sex with a minor, has filed a notice of appeal. The notice was filed on the weekend. Defence attorney Lyndel Wellesley has confirmed that Hanniford, pastor of City Mission Pentecostal Church, will be challenging his sentence on the basis that it is excessive.

The attorney said that he was not criticising the judge for her decision, but argued that there are persons convicted of murder and other serious crimes who have been given lighter sentences.

Hanniford was found guilty in January by a jury. Prosecutors led evidence that he sexually assaulted a 13 year-old girl at his home in 2015.

Gun, ammo found as cops raid 'Back Road'

handgun.jpgThe unofficial red-light district of Port Henderson Road in Portmore, St Catherine, known as Back Road was raided by the cops on Saturday morning, during which a 9mm pistol was found and more than 50 persons -- including three minors among 30 females -- were detained.

The near four-hour operation was led by Superintendent of Police Leighton Gray and involved 73 police personnel. A Walther PPK .380 pistol was also recovered in a separate operation miles away in Old Braeton.

Superintendent Gray told the media that the targeted operation was pointed at four nightclubs along the stretch where scantily clad women parade daily, from dusk to dawn, much in the view of passersby.

"They were two different operations. Port Henderson was a cordon and search, carried out along specific targets, including four nightclubs," Gray explained.

"At one of the clubs, persons were searched while exiting. Nothing was found then, but on searching the club, a firearm was found at the rear under a shelf with four rounds of ammunition," he added.

The lawmen's other major find was three female minors among the 50 persons detained.

"It is of note that the operation was also targeting human trafficking and reports of underage children, some, we understand, allegedly involved in prostitution," said Gray.

"However, the three we found, two 17-year-olds and one 16, were patrons at the club. They were processed and handed over to their parents and guardians, who were warned. Two of the club operators were also taken in and warned in that regard," he pointed out.

rapist-pastor-paul-hanniford.jpgPentecostal pastor, Paul Hanniford, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping a 13-year-old girl.

The sentence was handed down last week in the Home Circuit Court in downtown, Kingston, by presiding judge, Lorna Shelly Williams.

The defense had called four character witnesses.

Hanniford's lawyer, Linden Wellesley, says the sentence was fair.

However, he believes the current atmosphere regarding abuse and violence against women and children influenced the judge's decision.

Meanwhile, the mother of the 13-year-old girl paced the corridors of the court preaching.

She says while she's grateful for the sentence handed down Pastor Hanniford, who was like a brother to her, should've been given 25 to 30 years in prison.

Meanwhile, the mother says she's fearful.

banana-size-penis.jpgThey say it's not the size that matters.

But many men still can't quash their feelings that they would rather something more substantial 'down there'.

A demand for larger penises has driven something of a boom in surgical enlargement operations.

And now, a New York surgeon has debuted a 10-minute Botox-style procedure - that involves injecting one's own blood into their genitals.

According to Dr Norman Rowe, the board-certified surgeon behind the 'bulge booster', patients can gain 1.5 inches in circumference.

What's more, he says, they could be in and out during their lunch break.

'There is no recovery period,' Dr Rowe insisted to Daily Mail Online.

You come in, get the injection, 20 minutes later you're walking out.'

Explaining the origins of the unique procedure, Dr Rowe said he was inspired by innovations in facial fillers and sports medicine.

'In the last 10 years, we have seen the rise of so many "quick fix" operations like Botox - for the face, for the eyes... I spend so much of my day doing fillers on women's faces.

'I started to wonder: why can't I make it work for men?'

Traditionally, penis enlargement could only be done surgically.

chronixx-adidas.jpgReggae singer Chronixx has been chosen as the new face of the Adidas Spring Summer 2017 collection.

The sportswear brand claims the line finds parallels between British casual and Jamaican reggae culture. The collection is a mix of classic tracksuits, soccer-ready sneakers, and traditional military styles. The SS17 collection limited drop will be available on March 17 and the full collection on March 24 at select retailers globally and online Adidas.com.

The collaboration is a part of number of new releases for the star this year, as he is gearing up to release a new album, Chronology, his first full-fledged studio project after years of bubbling singles and EPs.

oriel-reggae-singer-thumb.jpgInternational reggae artiste, ORieL, hit the ground running for 2017, with People Say, a new single that is ready to set the tone for a successful year for the Afar Music Group artiste. The song has amassed over 30,000 plays on sound cloud in space of a month, and the artiste and his management team note that this is a remarkable achievement.

A smoky love ballad best describes the artiste's latest single and as ORieL's himself points out, "Love is an eternal theme and it is so misunderstood, but ironically, so easy to understand. There are so many different types of love that we could spend a lifetime talking about them, and we all know that when it comes to this particular topic, people always have a lot to say."

No stranger to exploring the love theme, ORieL, the self-proclaimed Love Souljah -- who is Dominican heritage, and based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- delivers this latest track with his usual confidence. The singer, who has worked with a number of Jamaican reggae acts as an artiste and producer, feels that People Say is a will definitely connect with lovers of the genre.

The Afar Music Group-produced single is a track from his upcoming debut album, a project which ORieL and his team, which includes Ludwig Grant and Lloyd Willacy, are particularly excited about. The natural successor to the reggae singer's Confidence 2.0 and Love Souljah EPs, the as-yet-untitled album, which is also highly anticipated, has a April 2017 release date.

People Say is currently being streamed on Soundcloud (https:// soundcloud.com/afarmu sicgroup/oriel-people-say) and, according to the artiste's team, it will soon be available on all major online digital stores.

donald-trump-photo-2.jpg(AP) -- President Donald Trump's revised travel ban will temporarily halt entry to the United States for people from six Muslim-majority nations who are seeking new visas, allowing those with current visas to travel freely, according to a fact sheet obtained by The Associated Press.

Trump was to sign the new executive order today.

The directive aims to address legal issues with the original order, which caused confusion at airports, sparked protests around the country and was ultimately blocked by the courts.

The revised order is narrower and specifies that a 90-day ban on people from Sudan, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen does not apply to those who already have valid visas.

The White House also dropped Iraq from the list of targeted countries, following pressure from the Pentagon and State Department, which had urged the White House to reconsider, given Iraq's key role in fighting the Islamic State group.

The fact sheet cites negotiations that resulted in Iraq agreeing to "increase co-operation with the U.S. government on the vetting of its citizens applying for a visa to travel to the United States."

foxy-brown-with-spragga-benz.jpgWord on the street is that Brooklyn rap legend Foxy Brown is a new mother. Veteran media personality Wendy Williams broke the news during the opening segment of her day time talk show yesterday (March 2).

"Literally, as I'm putting on my bracelet, the telephone rings," Williams said. "Congratulations to Foxy Brown. She had a baby girl." Wendy didn't go on to specify the father's identity, but she did offer up a hint.

"No word on exactly who the baby's father is but allegedly it's a reggae star and I'm not going to say his name because I think that me and Foxy have some sort of relationship, and the bureau does have a working telephone," she explained. "So, maybe she'll call us."

Foxy Brown hasn't really been on the scene too much over the last year, so this news comes as a complete surprise to most of the world. She hasn't dropped an album since 2001, but she still pops up in the news from time to time -- and it's usually for some incendiary remark.

harold-brady-taller-photo.jpgThe Disciplinary Committee of the General Legal Council has struck off senior attorney Harold Brady from the roll of attorneys in Jamaica and he will no longer be able to practice law in the jurisdiction.

has here are reports that well-known attorney-at-law Harold Brady has been struck off the list of persons licensed to practice in Jamaica.

According to sources, the decision was taken this afternoon by a disciplinary committee of the General Legal Council.

It comes a week after Brady was reportedly found guilty of professional misconduct by a panel of his peers.

He was reportedly found guilty on allegations of misappropriation of funds.

The ban was handed down Saturday by

Efforts by Loop News to reach Brady for a comment proved futile but he's likely to appeal the decision that came a week after the disciplinary body found him guilty of professional misconduct.

He was found guilty of misappropriation of funds and failure to account for monies received.

The case against Brady stems from a $140 million transaction in relation to the Factories Corporation of Jamaica, which he represented.

On Thursday, Brady told Loop News that he filed an affidavit that day confirming that $127M had been paid over. He said that the affidavit was accompanied by proof of payment.

"The accounts were audited and it's now established that the funds were paid over by electronic transfer but obviously that was overlooked," said Thursday.

jamaican-woman-visiting-texas.jpgHOUSTON, Texas -- A Jamaican woman was whisked back on a flight to Jamaica and her visa revoked after she arrived at the Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas on Wednesday night.

The woman's family members sought answers from US media outlet KHOU 11 News, who aired their story.

Veronica Gaubault, who was sent back to Jamaica, told the Houston media that US Customs and Border Protection revoked her visa after customs agents inspected her iPhone, iPad and other belongings.

Her cousin, paediatrician Kareen Smith said she waited for approximately four hours before customs agents told her that Gaubault would not be allowed to enter the country. They "just decided they were not going to let her in", she told KHOU 11 News.

A statement from the US Customs and Border Protection said that "It is important to note that issuance of a visa or a visa waiver does not guarantee entry," adding that "a CBP officer at the port of entry will conduct an inspection to determine if the individual is eligible for admission into the US".

When asked why the woman's belongings were searched they said it was for "administrative causes," KHOU 11 News reported.

Smith said text conversations between her and Gaubault were also scrutinised.

"She visits me, she visits other family we have in New York or Florida, and she goes home," Smith said. "She never overstays her time. She always honours her visa, and for some reason, this is the first time she's been denied."

Legislation allows the US Customs and Border Protection Agency to take steps deemed necessary before allowing travellers to enter the US.

kaci-fennell-carnival-photo-2017.jpgIt is no secret that popular selector, Foota Hype, talks a whole heap and it has reached the point where many people just wish that Foota would just shut the hell up and go AWAY...far far away.

Again, Foota has spoken and believe it or not, many person are saying that Foota ...for once... didn't put his entire foot in his mouth. This time, Foota Hype is actually being congratulated by some persons for actually making sense. Foota posted a picture of Miss Universe Jamaica (2014) Mrs. Kaci Fennell-Shirley in a very revealing, skimpy, next-to-nothing, wrong-part-of-the-body-baring, almost-pubic-hair-raising, super-sexy carnival betweeni and basically told the beauty queen to put on some clothes as she was "degrading herself".

This is what Foota said: "I don't care if this is miss Jamaica or miss world this nuh look good u favor ediot carnival mek u degrade uself exposing uself smfh better u did come a one dance Inna one batty rider #ilovedancehall."

In her response, Kaci Fennell, who got married last year, accused Foota of cyber bullying and has said that she wore the costume to please herself and that Foota should just shut the hell up (my words) because men like him are a part of the problem. But surely, this must be deja vu for the now married beauty who faced similar criticism for her Trini carnival costume back in February 2015. We did a quick search on Google and here are some of the headlines from that 2015 saga:

Kaci Fennell's Revealing Carnival Costume Harshly Criticized

Kaci Fennell Carnival Photo Draws Harsh Criticism Online

Kaci Fennell Skimpy Carnival outfit Angers Jamaicans

Has Kaci Fennell broken the Internet with her Trinidad Carnival

Here, too, is a paragraph from the February 2015 drama, along with some of the comments made two years ago: "Miss Universe Jamaica Kaci Fennell who is receiving harsh criticism from many for her choice of attire at Trinidad Carnival 2015."Why she have to dress like that to gain some attention from you the public? Showing off your naked self don't change what the world think?"; "Please don't go out dressed like that... you are miss universe in the eyes of Jamaicans and that outfit in pubic is not becoming of any miss universe"; "oooh nooo please take this picture down asap. looks too sleazy like a street walker... this pic doesnt depict the classy Kaci that represented JA a few weeks ago"; "No that's a lingerie girl. Pls don't represent my country wearing that."

Fast forward to February 2017 and here are the responses to Kaci Fennell-Shirley's Trini Carnival costume. Please note that she was the one who posted the picture of herself in the "betweeni" and since it was done on social media, which mean that persons are given the opportunity to comment - whether negatively or positively.

Newschecker: "We need to be careful how we define cyber-bullying as against freedom of speech. Far worse has been said on social media in the past than one man's opinion on something that is barely there.

"While she may have the right to walk naked if she chooses to do so, she should be prepared to stand the consequences of her choice. If she walked naked, she would be charged with indecent exposure. If she goes out in public dressed like that, then she is going to have to stand the conseqences: people giving their public opinion of her/ her outfit."

Darmic3: "While I'm no fan of today's dancehall, there's some merit to Foota's assertion. There has always been a bit a bit of hypocrisy between downtown/uptown and dancehall/soca.The uptown folks over the years, deride reggae and dancehall music, but have no such qualms about calypso and soca, whose risque lyrics and scantily clad "winers" are deemed acceptable."

Melissa_Whittaker: "Well me agree with foota this time. No look good at all."

Pete: "when u expose that much..no self esteem needed, its usually insecurity..craving attention and publicity. BTW isnt she married? Wheres hubby Missa Shirley?? Why didnt the papers refer to her correct name Mrs Kaci Fennel-Shirley?? Or did she drop the name for carnival...LoL"

Anthony_Harris: "I agree with foota go put on clothes and have some pride"

Kimmy: Carnival do calls for a little showing of skin but face it Fennell this time it was too much skin-showing of the wrong place.

Christopher_Williams: I don't care woman must carry them self better I agree a woman has the right to-do what she pleases and see fit however u not to to be parading around half naked to feel-good about ur self miss fennel come on!!

Spell_Mansa_Musa_Afrikaans1: "She only a follow previous Miss World's like Yen di and such...the so called costume is too much (or too little depending on how u look on her), this feminist crappie is over rated..guh put on clothes...yuh a represent all women in Jamaica ..have pride"

Shaneka_MzNice_Harris1: "Big up yuh self Kaci, love yourself in whatever you wear. Foota need fi worry bout him big stinking self wey cyaah kip ooman cause all him cyaah satisfy dem. Everyone has an issue with what GROWN people are wearing mind unuh own damn business. Damn nuff."

Noshel: "What Miss fennel did was to degrade herself , for no good reason. she have her beauty, so why bother to strip in such a manner?.. She cant tell me or anyone for that matter that she is not getting any attention just with her beauty fully clothes?.

Of course, there was also quite a bit of cussing out for Foota and lots of sympathy/admiration for Mrs Fennell-Shirley in other quarters.

Below, please read Mrs Fennell-Shirley's official response:

"To whom it may concern,

I never respond to hate like this but something inside me couldn't allow myself to see this and brush it off like I usually do, especially with what our women have been going through recently. I have grown to completely ignore comments like these. This type of man here is a big part of the problem we are currently facing, not everything I do will be accepted by everyone and there is nothing wrong with that, the problem lies with this person believing he has the authority to comment or even dictate how a woman should carry herself. Instead of us celebrating us they tear us down, this type of man makes women second guess themselves and that is absolutely unacceptable because our women are heaven sent and it saddens me that situations like this lower their self esteem. I wore this for me! I felt so beautiful and sexy (thank you @mariecollete) at no point was I seeking for anyone else's approval but my own and that's how it should be always. To any one out there that has been a victim of cyber bullying I just wanted to let you know that you are loved, you are wonderfully made, you are beautiful, you are a masterpiece.... Don't you ever let another person ever make you feel otherwise. Continue to be yourself no matter what negativity may come your way. Wait till him see what I wearing tomorrow." -- Yasmine Peru

The big question still remains: WHY?

crime-scene-knife.jpgThe police are seeking 26 year-old Sadan Lloyd Mullings of Elgin Town, Lucea in Hanover, who is wanted in connection with several serious crimes in western Jamaica and St Ann.

The track came just in time for Chris Brown's "Party Tour" tour with 50 Cent and his upcoming new single "Privacy" which will be released later this week and featured on his upcoming album Heartbreak on a Full Moon.

Since Ebro's post, many have flocked to social media to express their discontent with his statement.

latoya-nugent-tambourine-army.jpgReports are that Tambourine Army co-founder Latoya Nugent is currently being transported to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) in a "non-responsive" state. Sources report that she was having seizures earlier and was taken to the Duhaney Park Health Centre for treatment.

The police "claim she is in shock," and she is not talking to anyone the source said. Further claims by the Tambourine Army associate are that the officers are being really unprofessional and getting hostile when people try to record them" adding that their actions are a "gross disregard for human rights".

Nugent, who is of a St Andrew address, was arrested yesterday and charged with three counts of using computer for malicious communication under section 9 (1) of the Cybercrimes Act of 2015. She was scheduled to appear before the Half Way Tree Resident Magistrate's Court today.

Nugent allegedly published information on social media maligning several individuals as sexual predators. british-girl-dies-portland-jamaica.jpgA Denbighshire teenager who left Wales to sail around the world with her family 10 years ago has fallen to her death in Jamaica.

The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency says a 47-year-old Jamaican man in its custody has died at Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette, Louisiana. ICE said the cause of death is believed to be cardiac arrest.

People Say is currently being streamed on Soundcloud (https:// soundcloud.com/afarmu sicgroup/oriel-people-say) and, according to the artiste's team, it will soon be available on all major online digital stores.

kartel-and-shorty.jpgPopcaan recently released a song which he dedicated to his Trini Girlfriend and now Vybz Kartel has followed suit and has reaffirmed his love for his baby mother by dedicating a song to her.

Tanesha "Shorty" Johnson is Kartel's longtime partner who has stood bu his side through the thick and thin. The upcoming single is entitled "I'm So Sorry."

Meanwhile, it has become obvious that Kartel's seemingly endless supply of new music has been slowed down a bit due to an ongoing investigation by the correctional department into allegations that he has been recording music in prison. Sources told DHH that the incarcerated deejay will still be putting out new music from his large catalog of unreleased material.

This song "I'm So Sorry" is expected to be released in the next couple of days on Shorty's label Short Boss Muzik. Vybz Kartel's social media activities have also come to a halt with the recent clampdown in prison. donald-trump-photo-2.jpg(AP) -- President Donald Trump's revised travel ban will temporarily halt entry to the United States for people from six Muslim-majority nations who are seeking new visas, allowing those with current visas to travel freely, according to a fact sheet obtained by The Associated Press.

Is Spragga Benz Foxy Brown's baby-daddy?

Webmin

foxy-brown-with-spragga-benz.jpgWord on the street is that Brooklyn rap legend Foxy Brown is a new mother.

A year ago, Foxy drew plenty of ire for supporting President Trump, who was merely a candidate at the time.

has here are reports that well-known attorney-at-law Harold Brady has been struck off the list of persons licensed to practice in Jamaica.

According to sources, the decision was taken this afternoon by a disciplinary committee of the General Legal Council.

He said that the affidavit was accompanied by proof of payment.

jamaican-woman-visiting-texas.jpgHOUSTON, Texas -- A Jamaican woman was whisked back on a flight to Jamaica and her visa revoked after she arrived at the Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas on Wednesday night.

Wait till him see what I wearing tomorrow." -- Yasmine Peru

furtyle-brain-makes-ripleys-believe-it-or-not.jpgIt is still up for debate whether the brain of the deejay who calls himself Furtyle is in fact, simply futile.

Since Ebro's post, many have flocked to social media to express their discontent with his statement.

latoya-nugent-tambourine-army.jpgReports are that Tambourine Army co-founder Latoya Nugent is currently being transported to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) in a "non-responsive" state. Sources report that she was having seizures earlier and was taken to the Duhaney Park Health Centre for treatment.

The police "claim she is in shock," and she is not talking to anyone the source said. british-girl-dies-portland-jamaica.jpgA Denbighshire teenager who left Wales to sail around the world with her family 10 years ago has fallen to her death in Jamaica.

The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency says a 47-year-old Jamaican man in its custody has died at Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette, Louisiana. ICE said the cause of death is believed to be cardiac arrest.

Ninja's message to Lisa Hanna, is that she should leave dancehall artists alone and even touched on the double standards with carnival dress codes and some of the lyrics in carnival songs being played on radio stations.

Is Spragga Benz Foxy Brown's baby-daddy?

foxy-brown-with-spragga-benz.jpgWord on the street is that Brooklyn rap legend Foxy Brown is a new mother.

A year ago, Foxy drew plenty of ire for supporting President Trump, who was merely a candidate at the time.

harold-brady-taller-photo.jpgThe Disciplinary Committee of the General Legal Council has struck off senior attorney Harold Brady from the roll of attorneys in Jamaica and he will no longer be able to practice law in the jurisdiction.

has here are reports that well-known attorney-at-law Harold Brady has been struck off the list of persons licensed to practice in Jamaica.
