Two men were taken into custody by the police during an operation in St Catherine in which 550 pounds of compressed ganja with an estimated value of $1.5 million was seized.
The police say the men's identities are being withheld pending further investigations.
The police say about 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon a team was conducting an anti-narcotics operation on West Avenue in Sydenham, St Catherine, when the ganja was discovered in a storeroom at an establishment.
The police theorise that the ganja was prepared for export.
Meanwhile, the police are reporting that a St James woman was arrested yesterday at the Norman Manley International Airport for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
The police say the woman was intercepted by detectives as she attempted to board a flight for Montserrat.
The police say her suitcase was searched and nine-pounds of compressed ganja were found.
She was subsequently taken into custody.
