At a time when every artiste is sampling reggae/dancehall, Shaggy goes for a truckload of soul and samples the absolute best - Godfather of Soul and Founding Father of Funk, Mister James Brown. The single is entitled "I Got You" and features Jovi Rockwell and we must admit that this song definitely rocks well.

Shaggy, who is now reportedly managed by Compound Entertainment, whose roster includes Ne-Yo, samples Mr. Brown's 1965 No. 1 R&B anthem "I Got You (I Feel Good)", giving it all he's got. writer, Gail Mitchell quotes Shaggy as saying: ""Many tracks now have a dancehall feel to them. But to come out with a record that's dancehall and with a James Brown sample in it is keeping it authentic and cool. This is a disruptive record that doesn't sound like anything else that's out there, which is in keeping with what I've done over the years."

James Joseph Brown was an American singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer and bandleader. The founding father of funk music and a major figure of 20th century popular music and dance, he is often referred to as the "Godfather of Soul". James Brown died on Christmas Day, 2006.

Produced by REO, the song features the classic reggae rhythm, but also mixes in some classic soul as well with the James Brown "I Feel Good" sample for an infectious summer groove.
