r5-museum.jpgUS pop/rock band R5, arrived in Jamaica Monday evening, days ahead of their debut performance in the island at the exciting, family-friendly, kids and teen concert, YMZ which takes place on Saturday.

The five-member sibling group (and their best friend), is one of the show's headliners and so keen were they to explore Jamaica that they jetted in early enough to do just that. Despite the fact that one member Ross, who stars as Austin on Disney Channel's Austin & Ally, didn't come on Monday, as planned, R5 is having a blast, having visited the Bob Marley Museum, Tutti Frutti Sovereign, taken trips outside of Kingston, had a meet and greet with fans and even kicked off a media blitz, starting with Zip FM, and CVM at Sunrise.

On Monday they posted on social media, along with a pic: "WE'RE IN JAMAICA! Had a great time with @officialzip103fm. Ross is still filming his movie, he's gonna meet up with us when we play @youthmusiczone this Saturday!

This Saturday, July 9, will see the inaugural staging of YMZ which will feature heavyweight international and local-based artistes all on stage at the National Stadium field in Kingston, Jamaica. Also making his Jamaican debut will be Billboard Award winning artiste Silento, on a line-up that showcases local acts Bling Dawg of Aji Bounce fame, Don Andre, whose hit Tom Cruise has sparked a popular dance move of the same name and Voicemail.

"Youth Music Zone (YMZ) is definitely the summer event for the entire family," says Dave Lindsay of Mysterious Music Minds, the outfit organizing YMZ. "We just want the kids, teens and their parents to grab their most comfortable pair of dancing shoes and get ready to Whip, Nae Nae, Aji Bounce, and Tom Cruise on Saturday, " he added.

YMZ had its official recently at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in front of a packed house of sponsors, media, artistes and a host of excited teeny boppers. The organizers pulled out all the stops, including a first at a Jamaican media launch, by having a live link with R5.

Check out YMZ this Saturday at the National Stadium ... it a go loud!
