beenie-man-photo-8.jpgReggae Sumfest 2016 was a fantastic production which showcased two nights of dazzling performances from a strong contingent of reggae and dancehall artistes.

While many acts proved their mettle, at the end of the two nights Yardflex can report that it was the Doctor Beenie Man who shone the brightest on Dancehall Night, while "the singer's singer", Sanchez was the undisputed ruler of Reggae Night. Beenie Man, from his awesome entrance from beneath the stage, to his performance which saw him bring on stage, the controversial darling of Mo Bay, Tommy Lee, stamped his indomitable class on Reggae Sumfest 2016.

Sanchez was in his zone and it was a joy just to use all five senses to assimilate his outstanding performance. Every song was a boomshot and the more Sanchez gave, the more the insatiable crowd demanded. The singer christened Kevin Jackson gave younger acts a master class in what it means to have a catalogue of hits and use them wisely. Sanchez didn't need gimmicks, dancers or antics - all he had was his voice and he used it damn well.

Kudos to new owner Josef Bogdanovich and the entire Downsound Entertainment team for staging a superb festival.
