gareth-emery.jpgSaturday, July 2 will see the fourth staging of EDX presents X Squared the ultimate all-day, all-night soca and EDM fusion event set to explode at Grizzly's Plantain Cove in Ocho Rios, St Ann.

Marketed as an annual drinks-inclusive Electronic Dance Music event, the event is now in its fourth staging, and according to the promoters such is the popularity of the event that they thought it prudent to seek a bigger venue this year. Therefore the concert has moved from its original venue of Caymanas Polo Club to the more spacious Plantation Cove, which will host both segments of the event. Production team member, Mark Tracey, was in high spirits when he spoke about the award-winning event, which this year has Appleton as its headline sponsor and which is already creating quite a stir on social media.

"As the name suggests EDX presents X squared is based on the fact that the first party begins at 10 am and the second begins at 10 pm. The Roman numeral for 10 is X and given its two10 o'clock start times the concept of is played on. This helps to exemplify the doubling of the Rave experience by now including a day Rave for twice the fun," Tracey said of the event which copped the award for 'Best Event' for two consecutive years.

Another plus for party-goers will be the fact that the new staging location will be the beach area of the property, which has a permanent beach stage, providing a beautiful backdrop of the Caribbean Sea. He also noted that the day rave ends at 6 PM, while the night event will go on until 6 the following morning.

Electronic Dance Xposed has attracted big name international acts in soca and EDM, a music form that is steadily gaining momentum in Jamaica, where it ironically originated. Headlining the Beach Soca Fusion will be soca ambassador, Alison Hinds and working along with her to keep the energy all the way up will be Richie Ras, DJ Sekou and DJ Lantern. Waving the flag high for EDM will be none other than Gareth Emery, English electronic dance music producer and DJ best known for his three artist albums: Northern Lights, Drive and 100 Reasons To Live and also for winning the prestigious A State Of Trance Tune Of The Year award twice. Also set to dazzle will be Bad Royal, the four-man DJ/Producing group considered the next big thing in EDM. Quite flexible as far as genres are concerned, the group last year teamed up with Bunji Garlin for a soca/EDM album. Hypem top ten DJ, GAZZO will up keep the balance, while winner of Dance Music Manchester/Bass Jockey's DJ Competition TOFTE, is expected to thrill.

The promoters have already signed off on a shuttle service for patrons. "We will be using the JUTC luxury buses from Kingston end and we also have buses which will shuttle patrons from Pier One," Tracey said. Tickets are available online at www.yardticket.com and Fontana Pharmacy islandwide.
