The American singer will be the closing headliner of the Sam Cooke stage on Friday, September 2.

In announcing the new addition to the star-studded cast, the Curacao North Sea Jazz Festival said Brown made history when his first single "Run It!" instantly reached number one on the Billboard chart.

Since then, Brown has become one of the most popular US artists, selling millions of albums worldwide. He has won numerous awards, among them a Grammy, American Music Awards, and BET Awards, and has also built a successful acting career. Brown released his seventh studio album, "Royalty", in 2015. That same year, he also released a collaboration album with rapper Tyga.

Royalty, named after his daughter, is Brown's sixth number one on the Billboard R & B / Hip-Hop chart. Not only did the album peak the R & B charts, it also ranked the number two position in the Top Album Sales and Digital Albums Chart and number three on the Billboard 200. It's the seventh time Brown reached the top ten of the Billboard 200 in the first week after a new album release.

Other performers listed to perform are Al Jarreau, Tom Jones, Brandon Marsalis, Kassav, Jamie Cullum, Lenny Kravitz, Burt Bacharach and Michael Bolton, among others.

The Festival runs from September 1 to 3.
