Jamaica gets funding to fight Zika

zika-virus-photo-2.jpgAt the request of Jamaica, the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Council of Ministers has approved an allocation under the European Development Fund to support the fight against the Zika Virus in the region. The approval came Wednesday on the final day of the 103rd Session of the ACP Council.

Senator Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs, had proposed that the funds be made available to support the fight against the Zika Virus in Jamaica and the other countries in the Caribbean. She cited the serious potential for economic and social harm.
