Firehouse Crew and to Kaya host video/single launch and free concert Friday

kaya-george-firehouse-crew.jpgAmsterdam-based reggae singer Kaya, who has been journeying to Jamaica for several years, joins the Firehouse Crew tomorrow for a special single and video launch, along with a free concert at the Sweet Calabash Restaurant on Kensington Crescent in Kingston.

The single, Live On Natty Dread, is a collab with veteran singer Macka B. As Kaya explained, the song is a tribute to reggae icon Bob Marley and it is also the first single from Kaya and The Firehouse Crew's upcoming album.

Kaya, who is managed by Tony Owens - the Jamaican who at one point managed English reggae group Musical Youth (Pass The Dutchie) - is looking forward to his first official launch in Jamaica.

"We will have the launch for media and special guests at 7 p.m., followed by the free concert with artistes including Sizzla, Luciano, Lukie D, Andy Livingston, Bryhan Art and others, starting at 9 p.m. I really appreciate the fact that these singers have been so willing to join me and the Firehouse Crew for what will be a grand musical celebration with family, friends and fans," Kaya declared.

Members of the Firehouse Crew are also in high spirits and stated that the concert will serve as a launch pad for their upcoming tour of Europe.

Carlos Lopez, better known as Kaya the African Herbsman, was born in Mindelo City on the island of St. Vincente in Cape Verde, West Africa. A singer, songwriter. producer and musical arranger. Kaya possesses a very distinctive vocal range and style that compares favourably to that of a few notable Jamaican reggae legends.
