JCapri's funeral a celebration of life

jcapri-funeral-programme.jpgThe funeral service for entertainer JCapri was a wholesome celebration of life, held on Monday at the UWI Chapel in Mona, St Andrew.The service was officiated by Reverend Bosworth Mullings and Reverend Samuel McCook.

Scores of mourners turned out to suppirt the family as they recalled the too-short life of the artiste, who everyone agree was destined for greatness. Her life was described as "a comet blazing across the evening sky" by her aunt Karen Phillips in the funeral programme.

The programme also featured a touching tribute from Capri's mother, Oradale Carwin and Capri's best friend, Danielle,.


The music fraternity was well-represented and among those present were Lady Saw, Christopher Martin, Carlene 'Dancehall Queen' Smith, Romain Virgo, Alaine, Dean Fraser, producer Christopher Birch, Skatta Burrell, Delus, ZJ Liquid, TOK and D'Angel.


Crystal Davis, the daughter of Carlene and 'King of the Dancehall' Beenie Man, was noticeably emotional at the service and was seen crying in her mother's arms.


Cherine Anderson delivered a touching tribute in song at the start of the service. Many family and friends tearfully watched as she stirred their hearts with a rendition of Brandy's Missing You.Other musical tributes came from Romain Virgo, Aisha Davis, Dean Fraser, Alaine Laughton and Christopher Martin.

JCapri died in hospital more than a week after her Mercedes Benz slammed into a wall and overturned in Barbican.
